Ah. What your saying is true. But I can tell your being mean. There are graduates from any school who don't do much with their degrees.
And again, as I learned, no one knows what other people go through

I am assuming that you are only jesting like the previous commenter said for themself.
To be honest that last part about "nobody taking it away" is not directed at you. It's directed to elitist who feel that success is directly tied to one low national ranking public university versus another.
To be fair, LSU and Tulane are the premier institutions of LA. I am definitely NOT saying my schools are better.

I'm curious what your elite profession is since you feel the need to childishly belittle this guy's education decisions.
I've worked with some damn good engineers who came out of Southern. An education is largely what you make of it. Not to mention, getting a BS in Physics at LA Tech should speak a little something to his capabilities.

And what do you mean by "YOU PEOPLE"?!?!?

I'm glad someone see what I'm trying to do. Look I've made mistakes, largely cause I went through things and at the time I didn't know my options.
I'm just taking my best course of action, it isn't what everyone do.

man, I haven't read all of this, but don't let theese asshats get under your skin. you have accomplished more than 90% of the people in this country and just need to close it out with a decent job.
first off, have you joined the NSBE and clubs like that to put on your resume?....
also, have you just done things the old fashioned way and sent out an assload of paper resume's and cover letters?...
gotta remember that the folks who do the hiring are typically a little older (like me) and are far more comfortable holding a good, solid paper resume than sorting through one of the 350 e-mails that I get every day....

Thanks. I will keep that in mind when doing applications. Also I have never tried cold calling. So I will try to utilize it.

I'm still taking suggestions but I guess I got what I needed.

Pass the FE and present yourself in a personable and bright manner.........you'd be surprised how the school is overlooked.
You must pass the FE. Seems like many Southern grads can't get passed it.

The FE is a great start, but look at the company that you want to work for. See how vital it really is.
I hopped into my career before taking it with the plan being to take it later...never did, but that hasn't really heald me back from upward mobility
ETA : be careful as some companies may cap pay and rank with out having an FE. It just all depends

yep yep....sorry, I need to clarify, I'm a Chem-E. We don't need to "Stamp" plans like CE's and ME's.

I have definitely done research about the FE and PE requirements. My conclusion is that for EE, it really is not necessary unless you are involved for facility designs with buildings (which potentially would have you working with Civil Engineers).
I am sure there are other jobs for EE that require PE licensing, but generally EE can get jobs without it.
(the entire purpose of an FE is to meet the requirements for PE, so a company who focuses on FE usually wants to train you to a PE)
