All the local guys were saying Thursday-Saturday was supposed to be the worst of it. This stuff tonight was awful, still hammering the northern side. Looks like there is some more junk brewing down near Freeport too. Gonna be an interesting few days. Doubt we get much done at work.

This is a subtle little thing that wasn't expected, at least to this biblical extent.

The rest of the week has us E TX, LA, AR folks stuck between a trough and a ridge and catch all the disturbances around the trough. A lot of rain ahead, getting 12"+ isnt the ideal start.

Katy has gotten like an inch so far off radar estimate. Sugarland has seen a good 8, to give you an idea of the sharp gradient here.

Due west of Fairchilds has radar estimates totals of 12.5". That's tops in the Houston area best I can tell.

Do they still pay the welders a per diem when it’s a rain out, or will those guys drag after a few days if the rain sets in?

Heights got hit pretty hard and lightened up some around 10 ish. Lightning struck a telephone pole about a block and half away from my house. About shite myself.

And the one and only reason that’s never going to be true: because Dallas residents care sooo much about being better than Houston.

It honestly depends on the company and the specific project. I'm on the survey side of things now, we will get our full day of hours and perdiem if our truck gets to the jobsite. Most places regardless of craft will pay their perdiem if they show up that day but the hours they get paid for a rainout vary wildly. Heck if we are working out of town we get that sweet sweet 7 days perdiem regardless of how much actual hours are put in.

These pipeline baws arent as big of pussies as the plant baws. They'll work thru rain as long as there isnt lightning. Just makes everything very sloppy and you really have to put faith in the trackhoe and dozer operators

Do we wanna throw DFW and ETX/NWLA into this thread since the severe threat is shifting eastward?

We have massive rain in Houston and Hail/Tornadoes north and moving east. The first line came through earlier this morning and its dark as frick here right now waiting on the second line.

This is a rural creek southwest of Sugar Land. Peak Harvey flow was 21.71.

How is this going to effect the baseball state playoffs in Sulphur that start today and go through Saturday?

It was worse in Greatwood (South Sugar Land) yesterday evening than at any point during Harvey. Lots of abandoned vehicles and people just walked home last night.

Yeah, why not? Got a huge swath of 7"+ predicted for most of eastern Texas and western LA. There's going to be places with flooding issues by the end of the weekend.
