Sad to see WinnDixie fold up

Ch 11 doesn't mean folding up. They are probably just restructuring debt

I honestly didn't even know that Winn Dixie was still operating. I haven't seen one in at least 10 years. I would have thought this move came years ago.

How the heck did Winn Dixie get in financial trouble?

They have been a wholly owned subsidiary of BI LO for six or seven years.

It is BI LO, the parent company, that is filing for bankruptcy. BI LO has always been a shite company, and, through dumb acquisitions has more debt now than they can pay the interest on.

The Winn Dixie in Burbank is packed with students daily. If that store closes, someone else will gladly take over that location.

I'm pretty sure this is the second time that WD files for bankruptcy. I'm not sure how any vendor does business with them after possibly filing for bankruptcy twice

Rouses took over the one near me about 9-10 years ago? I rememeber they use to put their chicken breast on sale for %50 off and it was still higher than Rouses and Wal-Mart

Plenty of them in the New Orleans area. Three just in Metairie. I shop at Winn Dixies at least twice a week.

They've been a shite show of a store for quite a while in my experience.

This. The one that was here was great for years then went to shite about 10 years ago. People blamed the Walmart but that wasn't it. I know the manager of our local family grocery store and he told their business actually went up because so many people made a point of not doing grcery shopping at WalMart. But he said it did kill Winn Dixie.

Winn Dixie is half-assed. I occasionally have to go to the newer one in Covington and have noted that their head on shrimp is from outside the US. WTF? S.E. LA and you're getting your shrimp from another country? That's pitiful.

They are building a Rouses the Burbank/Lee intersection, catty corner to the Winn Dixie.

Can you expand on that post? Did Walmart’s hurt your WD or not?

I can't stand how they price things. Get this price with the card--get this price when you buy one get one free--all that kind of crap that does nothing but charge those that are not paying attention or those with food stamps that don't care more.

The Winn Dixie by my house as a kid had the lettering on the top of the building laid out to say Winn on the left of the building in a large font, The Beef People in a smaller font centered over a jutting entrance, and Dixie to the far right.

I’d always thought it was a stupid place because from the time I was a kid, I thought there sign was an incomplete sentence.

I live across Coursey from Winn Dixie,it seems to stay busy and was remodeled recently.

That is a nice store, you have to watch the prices, some things are OK, some are crazy expensive. But it is clean, the produce is well stocked, the deli items are tasty.

When they remodeled they did some crazy shite, liquor and wine are at opposite corners of the store, the breads are too Obviously some bizarre marketing department head had a brain fart.
