Worked at WD cutting meet on Burbank when I was at LSU and loved it. My roommate and I ate like kings every day of the week after hitting the gym, it was glorious.

Not to mention all of the talent walking through there. Good times.

Profit margins at most grocery stores is 2%, and there is a lot of spoilage. It’s a wonder how they survive at all.

The Winn Dixie in Burbank is packed with students daily. If that store closes, someone else will gladly take over that location

The Rouse's that will be catty-corner from it will be happy to oblige.

I don't understand at all people complaining about the prices? What is 'expensive there' and compared to where? Walmart prices? You simply can't compare Walmart to a grocery store. They are in line with Publix and Kroger from my experience, and certain less than Whole Foods and the Fresh Market type of places.

Yeah I quit buying meat there. I buy other groceries but usually go to NuNu’s for meats. Better quality, fresher meat, and usually always cheaper.

Depends on your market but at least it's fresh never frozen like the sams and costcos.

For regular stuff I love WD. The one in Mandeville is like a ghost town. You can get in and out very fast. They also have deals on whole beef tenderloins every now and then. They aren’t the best, but are pretty tasty and tender. Also, their $6 filled king cakes were this bomb this year. They were better than $20+ bakery king cakes that I tried.

Looks like Brookshire's is buying 8 Winn Dixie's and rebranding them Super 1. New Roads is one of them. How's Super 1 compared to WD? Is that some sort of discount crappy grocery?

Agreed. I love my Winn Dixie in Bucktown. There are always specials (using the card) that I snatch up. I've even got sweet deals on meat. I will be bummed if they close the Bucktown store.

I used to stop in there from time to time. Always long lines and there is a walmart level of trash in that store.

I heard that too. Probably will make decent grocery stores out of them finally. Not sure how they will handle the smaller size though. Super 1 is one of the larger sized grocery stores in the acadiana area. Quality of products is good and prices aren't bad at all.

Some truth here, but there are diamonds in the rough. With Heritage across the street, there are some good sights in their post-workout gear.

Also, with self-checkout added, the lines are shorter.
