I'd be shocked if this is an actual issue at any hospital. Didn't seem to be an issue in NOLA, even during our peak.

Who is “we”? Is this national? If so, it’s meaningless to look at gross national numbers. Local spikes are where problems might be, but any news that ICUs are overwhelmed is bullshite. Maybe one or two hospitals, but if so, just send some patients 50 miles away. There will be plenty of capacity there.

You must not watch or read any real news. Hospitalizations are a huge concern in many cities right now.

because most of the hospitalizations were in NYC in April

Thus sending the media into a massive circle jerk. Causing cities to panic like building a 17 million dollar tent that never got used in Houston

My guess is a combination of we are better at treating the virus and thus decreasing hospital visit time as well as there is less hysteria around the virus...meaning there were more people going to the hospital in April when they felt quite sick because they were worried they might die versus people who are just less scared of it now. Lastly, the virus can mutate over time. Perhaps it has become less lethal (not that it was extremely lethal to begin with).

I think it's a bit premature to say we were completely lied to from the start. Maybe there is some truth to that notion. But I don't think this statistic is any kind of smoking gun or something. There are plenty of explanations why this could be happening.

99.9% or people who are actually positive should be staying home treating it with the same medication you treat a cold. People are stupid. Hospitals are for actual sick people, not those who can’t taste their donuts.

Well let's just say nobody should watch any news that have been proven liars. Therefore I can't watch CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS.

They all lied about collusion with Russia and refused to report on Biden family corruption. So yeah, no way I can trust them.

most states didn't report hospitalized until July.... including those in the northeast

Second, if you are at hospital for 8 hours you are now considered hospitalized, wasn't the case a couple months ago

Only two states report hospitalized due to Covid or with it..ND and IA...both are right at 26% "with" and not "because of Covid"

Maybe those who put everything off then are there now?? IDK. I'm so sick of every bit of this.

As am I, but I am even more angry that Communist Govt of China is going to get away with at a minimum of covering up how far it spread before they put out a show when they could no longer do so as it was already spreading here and in Europe and not sharing actual samples of original virus strains with us. In beginning of Jan they were being praised by Faucini and others as being open this time and helping to not cause virus to be a threat to US.

Also after ignoring warnings of sloppy safety protocols with the lab there they have basically covered up virus leaking from lab. I don’t believe it was released on purpose or weaponized (at least when it leaked as it was too close to coming straight from a bat), but i do believe the cover up of virus and delay of info coming out and WHO being allowed in had less to do with national pride and more to do with fear of being only country hit hard economically due to virus - especially the country the Communists in China have always seen as its main enemy and also main competitor while making it seem like they did all they could to contain it once they “knew” about it while knowing it had already spread too much elsewhere to contain.

Not sure if these count “virtual beds” as hospitalizations. Basically someone with risk factors (obesity/elderly/diabetes) tests positive for covid and the hospital system sends them home with continuous pulse ox and frequent vital sign checks thru home health. They quarantine at home. If fever rises above a threshold, or pulse oximetry falls below a threshold, they admit the patient to the actual physical hospital.

In April there was a shortage of ventilators, now there is a surplus.

If I recall, this was one of the main issues hospitals were dealing with or were concerned about.
