Young people raising a family move out of EBR because of our school system.

The magnet schools are good, but if you aren't one of the best and brightest and you are placed in an underperforming school; then you might not get the education that you deserve.

I can understand wanting the mayor/council or city manager to live within the city they oversee...but PD?

WGAS?

Who's the guy with the noose? He seems pretty reasonable, I'd like to hear more from him.

He's the vice president of sales at The Advocate
If that's true it might partly explain the drop of almost 15,000 subscriptions in the Baton Rouge market since John Georges bought the paper.

Your thread title is inaccurate. She now just wants police to live within the parish, not just the city limits.

Nor pay for tuition at private schools. So they would have to resort to public schooling in Baton Rouge, which is dreadful.

I was kidding about that but the Advocate doesn't even try to hide their left wing bullshite anymore. That's why their subscription numbers have plummeted. Go check out the open carry thread on the OB. The article features someone open carrying while wearing a t-shirt with a confederate flag on it. They have an agenda and it doesn't jive with the people of BR.

Then they better get a serious pay raise. Private school tuition isn't cheap.

Honestly....Baton Rouge may be circling the drain if someone like Denise Marcelle gets elected. It's a shame because Holden was a solid leader with a good vision about the future of the capital area.

Some of those shooting victims lived in Livingston Parish.

If they want to limit where police can drive their cruisers when they go home, fine. The residency requirement is transparently race-politics. Address has nothing to do with the quality of recruit and they know it.

This is something I do not understand. I know, in theory, they are thinking its a way to have the police be connected to the community, but you need a balance. Sure you want to have some police officers who live in Baton Rouge, but you have to have people who also look at things from the outside looking in.

Do you still have to live in New Orleans to be a policeman for the city of NO? That worked out great for NO (sarcasm). These candidates can't be this stupid to think that is the answer. And for anyone who wants an all black police force.. Do criminals act different when a black police is on the scene?

If one of the officers, who were trying to wrestle Sterling down was black, he wouldn't have done the same thing? I can assure you, if you ask a black police officer what they think about this idea they would probably tell you those people will be in for a surprise if they think the black police will be less aggressive, etc.

And as for as Gary, no shite.. Does he own his own business? What does he do for income? He is able to attend all these events during the week, in the middle of the day.

It's all about who's the most talented cop. If we limit it to ebr you'll have like Richard condon as a cop. would you feel safe?

What she really wants to say is they don't want BR cops from Livingston Parish, b/c many blacks in BR are afraid of Livingston Parish.

People already complain about the officers working overtime to make extra money so they can afford stuff and now people are complaining that they should live in the city limits.

I'm curious what the new complaint will be next month.
