I’m looking at pulling the trigger on the Yukon size solo stove fire pit. Should I ask this in the outdoor board? They have a couple of sizes and say they are smokeless using real wood. Hoping for some feedback. TIA..

Got mine from S&S fire pits in Georgia. Very happy with it.

They are not smokeless at all but the oxygen flow does burn most of the wood completely

I have one and I love it. If you plan on using normal size firewood go with the yukon size.

Hint: The fire isn't that smokeless until it gets going well. So start your fire 30 mins plus before you plan on sitting around it if you can.

Go to Brian’s in Port Allen. Buy a sugar kettle that’s approx 3 feet in diameter. Call a local metal fab shop. Get them to punch 5 small holes in the bottom. Also get them to make a 2 ft stand for it. Get them to cut a few flour de lis or other flowers and incorporate into the stand. It will be less expensive, prettier and burn more efficient.

I'd do more research. Friend has one, and it's really not that impressive. For the price, his is pretty small and most cut wood doesn't even fit in it. It also doesn't really put out much heat. Maybe the larger model is better, but I wasn't impressed with his.

The portability of it is pretty cool I guess, and it does smoke less than regular fire pits.

They’re badass, I’ve had my bonfire for 3 years now and will never own a regular fire pit again.

Once these bad boys get rolling, the amount of heat they produce is impressive.

Have a Yukon, it’s very nice. No smoke once you get it going

I would ask on the OB since most of the OT are metro sexual city dwelling apartment renters who wouldn't know what a fire pit is.

On the other hand, most on the OB burn scrap lumber on an upside down rusted out hood of a Camaro

This, I love my pit from S&S.

I have not used one of the “smokeless” designs but have read they are smokeless, not smoke free. I have found using properly seasoned firewood and building a nice hot fire goes a long way to reduce the smoke on my standard pit.

Wrong. Once you get a good flame rolling, they are essentially smokeless. I use mine under a covered patio without any smoke issues at all.

I wasn't aware that people pay money for portable bonfires.

Have one. Works great. It's not smokeless immediately, but once it gets hot it's pretty damn impressive how smokeless it is. Would recommend.
