That takes the money away from where the politicians can get to it

Boomers are simply getting the money that was stolen from their paychecks returned.
Everytime it gets brought up on here, every boomer brags that they don’t need social security, yet they aren’t willing to agree to break the vicious cycle to benefit their kids and grandkids.

If you contributed the absolute max from 1974 to 2015, you contributed a bit under 200k. If you're still collecting today, you'd be at close to $325k in benefits.

It's like if the older freed slaves demanded slavery be kept legal so they could retire. They say it unironically and with pride too. And then they expect everyone to ignore their treachery, if not celebrate it. Classic booner shite. They'll never see.

Cue the ignorant "Muh, Boomers" cry babies. Should be entertaining.
And will continue to bitch for next 40 years until its time for them to get a monthly $8,500 check when they turn 70.

No, they are also slowly removing the salary cap. They will likely eventually means test it as well.

Now show us how much the total is given to people who have never contributed. A constant and never ending drain on not just housing and food but education and free health insurance. Show us how much was and still is given to the illegals and the waste given to foreign govts. And Dem giveaways to their gay agenda for the planet. Get angry at the people who worked their entire life and actually paid the taxes that are given away to those who never contributed a dime.

If we show you the policy failures of the last 40 years will you show us who was largely in charge of making those policies?

Were in a union on the river, plant, or yard = zero SS. Railroad =zero SS. Lastly, worked hard and earned a pension from the river, plant, or yard.
This is not true. Union workers in the private sector plant jobs on the river paid SS tax just like everyone else. Gov't employees didn't pay SS but they also don't receive the benefit because they didn't pay into the system.

You literally can’t find a job today that has that. They don’t exist anymore.
Instead you have a 401K with employer matching funds that you get to take with you when you leave for greener pastures. As a work force you are no longer handcuffed because you are dependent on your pension for retirement.
The current system is much better so long as you are disciplined enough to pay yourself first.
$200 a month with a $ for $ employer match over 40 years will net you the same $5,000 per month pension that your dad is getting.

didn't they get 8 percent one year during the pandemic?
The government just doesn't are.
Pensions don't give COLA.

Govts give out pensions like candy. They shouldn't, but they do.
Thats how they keep employees from jumping into private sector for higher paying jobs.

This take is just as bad as saying it's ok for the Gov't to not meets its debt obligations. Boomers and Gen X are ok with the younger generation not paying into the system. We just want our money back. The money can come from the General Fund instead of foreign aid, welfare, etc. for all we care.
