and me not being up to date on popular culture (I try to live under a rock). I am wondering is someone can enlighten me as to why now?

He has been dead about what? 10 years? What am I missing? Not trying to be an arse or dense, just trying to understand.

It was a rare disease and a sad situation that they made a doc about and are promoting said doc.

It’s Jimmy V Week so I think that’s why they’re doing the documentary (part of the “30 for 30” series) and all now.

Apparently I've been under a rock, because I have no clue what you are talking about. What about Stuart Scott?

It’s the 10th year of his death and it’s the week espn raises money for cancer. Is it that hard?

I think OP is just trying to find a reason to not like it because he was black.

Well you pointed out the 2 facts that you would need to be aware of to understand. Its not hard or easy. You simply have to know that. The OP didnt and asked.

Do you respond this way to people in real life?

I don’t find it abnormal at all. Docu films like this are made all the time about interesting subjects without any type of expiration date.

I have nothing against him and he seemed like a genuinely good dude, but to me he always came across as a well educated, well spoken guy who was trying to "talk street".

Him, Dam Patrick, Rich Eisen, Kenny Mayne, Neil Everett, and SVP were what made watching sport center great.
