It's funny to see all the yeti haters come out in these threads, like the people who own them are spending the haters' money buying them.

The yeti has stickers, customizable screens, and street cred.

Igloo has the same style of ice chest for around 50 cents a quart cheaper. Thick insulating walls are what make it cost more.

This is an ongoing battle on the OB board. I have both and when you are in South LA fishing in August there is nothing that will keep ice from melting.

Let me know when you load up on a 36' CC and head 100 miles out into the gulf for a couple days.

So of all the negative responses in this thread it's mine that's a troll.

And to answer your stupid question...

Paying $300 for a product to do a job when there is another product that can do the same job for 1/3 (or less) of that price is just plain stupid.

Yeti's look like a cool product. But as mentioned in this thread, I would need to be doing somethign that will require me to keep something cold for day son end, with no alternative, in order for me to make the purchase.

Day trips to the lake do not fit that criteria just yet.

I have an Igloo Yukon and this thing is a beast. I like it better than the Yetti coolers. Hold like like no other. Went fishing offshore in Venice last year for a few days worked great.

My dad is a shrimper and have used Igloo ice chests since forever. Only needing to replace it when the handle breaks.

Some people he knows at the dock replace theirs every year. Why? Its a Yeti and they get it stolen in the middle of the night.

If you need to keep "ice cold for over a week" at home, its called get a freezer.

This is what they are designed for and serve that purpose very well.

The love/hate of the yeti has become a cultural war that I don't think the designers envisioned, but for them it's great discussion because outdoorsmen are always talking about them.

Yeti's are much, much better coolers, but if you don't need to keep ice/drinks cold for days at a time, its not worth it. They are expensive and very heavy/cumbersome.

If you are going camping for a weekend though and can somehow bring a yeti, its totally worth it. Will keep your stuff ice cold the entire weekend even in the heat.

Also, they have rubber/silicone on the bottom and they don't slide around in truck beds. And Yeti's will last forever. They are thick and durable.

I own both and only bring out the yeti when I need it for the reasons stated above.
