and it's not like $300 is all that much.

We get it, you don't like them or wouldn't pay for it. I'll never understand why people can't get over what other people do with their own money.
I have one. And I love it in the boat because it is heavy and doesnt move around. That is where i think Yetis excel. However, it doesnt keep ice any longer then my other coolers. I just wanted to point that out to those that say it does

Well according to what we've learned in this thread you don't want to waste your money on the Yeti if what you're needing is longevity in cooling ability.

I am not trying to be an arse but it has been proven time and time again YETI doesnt do anything that IGLOO/Coleman cant do. In fact, I think the Coleman Extreme lasts the longest

You keep linking that video but I can tell you the Yeti portion is not on the up and up. I have repeatedly proven much better performance than they "demonstrated."

At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself why so many people who hunt and fish for a living prefer Yeti. Do they just like spending extra money? There must be some sort of value in the product or they wouldn't carry it out where nobody can see them. To each their own.

Well, if you have a coleman at least your boat will have a full tank of gas with the money you saved to ride back to get more ice on day 3. When your Yeti runs out at the exact same time on day 3, you will have to paddle back

I like the seamless polyethylene chests and I think they offer tons of benefits over a conventional chest with a liner material. I bought a small one and didn't need the performance/weight of a YETI, so I got an Australian competitor. Thing is great, I think $84 to my door.

Great marketing. But like I said, I own one and it is great for a boat because it is heavy(safe to stand and sit on without even being bolted down). I just think the cooling longevity is nonsense

A little off topic but I noticed the OP said "Ice Chest" and some people say "Cooler".

I've always said Ice Chest. Never refer to them as coolers. Born and raised in South Louisiana.

Is this is a regional thing? Just curious.......

yeti is also extremely durable, doesnt slide all over the boat or the back of my truck, and I dont have to worry replacing hinges, brackets, drain plugs, latches, buttons, and handles like igloo's are famous for making those cheap parts that dont last for more than a couple of trips.

I have two, and didn't pay for either. So it's not like I have money sunk in to either one. But I use them when I can and use my igloo marine chests when I don't need the yetis.

I find it a little ironic that you are so against yeti but such a big apple fan. It's the same concept.

I have all apple products ftr.

Im totally cool with people using yeti for the appropriate purposes. However, I have tons of friends that have them and will bring them to the pool for an afternoon.

I'd rather bring my rolling igloo to the pool that 1 person and carry while talking on their phone than a cooler that costs 6x as much and takes two people to bring anywhere.

Agreed.

I'm cool with either though, ain't my business.

But Yeti's do MUCH better in certain situations like on a boat or at a camp for a week. Need something to stay cold for an afternoon? Igloo Cube with wheels is all you need.

Its why I own both and use the Yeti like 3 or 4 times a year.

You got to have a Yeti in case your cooler is attacked by a bear while fishing in the Gulf.

It's my business when I go to the pool with my friends and one insists we bring his yeti and I have to help carry it in...

You're just flat out wrong about Yeti performance versus average Igloo's.

Period.

I have had Yeti's sitting in the sun keep ice in solid state for 4-5 days in a truck bed. That video is absolute hogwash. I have used both simultaneously a dozen times and the Yeti is so much better for long term preservation of temperature its hilarious.

I use the Igloo Cube way more often because I more often take just day trips to beach or pool and its so much lighter, but there is certainly a time and place for the Yeti. Also, it not sliding around in trucks and boats cannot be understated as well. Very sturdy and stable. They will also last forever. I replace my igloos every couple of years. Hinges won't break, top won't pop open at all, top won't bend in from people sitting on it, etc.

I'm not "against" Yeti. I just do not think it's a good investment for most people. I see some in here are quite passionate about the matter. To me it's not that big of a deal. I was just taking part in the discussion.

As for Apple, the only reason I have Apple is that's that my company bought me and it's what I'm use to. Along with this I like that I and my wife and kids can connect our devices (phones, pads) and share stuff.
