I currently reside in an area of the country where the leaves are just now falling off the trees. Usually happens in late November.

The guy across the street from me has a big Christmas party the Saturday before Christmas every year. His house is decorated and his yard has been pristine since last weekend.

His neighbor's tree just dumped all of its leaves. Of course they're all over his lawn too. He was out there yesterday blowing them all back over to the neighbors lawn. The neighbor pulled into his driveway in the middle of this and tells him to stop doing that. The Xmas party guy tells him it's his trees' leaves.

So what is the correct protocol here? I always figured leaves are a free for all in fall when everyone's is on the ground. But then everyone cleans them up, but, of course, there is always that one neighbor who doesn't and his leaves end up on others people's lawns. I have blown them back over, blown them in the street, or just bagged them depending on how I'm feeling that day.

What does the OT do?

Set up a camera on the front lawn so people can watch them fight it out.

I ignore them. I don't care if there are leaves in my yard.

My neighbor has several large red oaks in his front yard. Funny how the prevailing winter winds blow most of the leaves into my yard. I just laugh at the situation and mulch the leaves in.
It helps that the neighbor is a really nice guy.

We only have a few crape Myrtles in our yard so we get our neighbors trees - I just clean up the leaves and move on.

My dogs like grabbing the big leaves and running around in circles with them. So, I just leave them. I only blow off the deck and patio areas.

My little picks it up by the stem and has this big leaf sticking out the side of his mouth as he trots around.

Get a Binford HD8500 Xtra Duty Leaf Blower and send the leaves right back.

I just mulch them. It's not worth the potential drama to blow them back into the neighbors yard. I'll usually just mulch the neighbor's as well if I have time. They're nice people.

It’s generally a POS move to blow leaves back on the neighbors lawn with a significant exception for the a-hole on every street who never takes care of their own property.

Luckily I don't have many that fall in the front yard. The backyard is kinda woodsy so the leaf guy just comes and blows them all into the corner of the yard. Everyone seems to do the same, its been great.

Just leave them. Who cares if you have leaves on your lawn? Makes it look fall like.

Guy went through the effort of returning his neighbors property to him.. that was nice.. neighbor should just go out and clean his leaves up..

Fwiw I tell my yard crew to still come and clean my yard in the winter cause my trees drop leaves.. I do not want them all over.. they come each week… . sometimes they skip weeks..

One neighbor has the same crew clean his yard sometimes when he sees them at my house.. other neighbor still has a few pumpkins spread in his yard rotting and scarecrow laying against house .. leftover from Halloween.

And if you live in a nice suburban neighborhood and “just leave them” to then blow around to everyone else’s property, everyone hates you and your lazy POS family.

Because it kills the grass underneath and turns your yard into a mud slide if you allow too much accumulation.
