Because that's all you see people getting their feathers ruffled about. You don't see white actors get cast in a majority black parts bc people don't give a shite. They've never had a white person cast as a majority black character because they don't try out for the parts. She's an accomplished stage actress who auditioned and won a role. She just happens to be black

Really? Appearance isn't an important piece of being a character? Ok, then maybe they should have a robot play her, or maybe a petting zoo animal.

So, clearly a troll, ignorant racist, or developmentally challenged child.

Beyoncé isn't fictional. She could play queen latifahs part in beauty shop though.

If The Rock can play Bufford Pusser in Walking Tall, Hermione can be played by a woman of color.

Whoever did the casting for this particular stage production is a GD genius. This is the type of exposure and publicity they couldn't otherwise buy.

The next James Bond should be Idris Elba. Dude is British, has swag, is bad arse and has the acting chops. If black Hermoine is what it takes to get Idris as 007, then I'm game.

Why not? Superman doesn't need muscles, his strength comes from alien powers. And why would an alien look exactly like an american? So again, you can accept that an alien comes to Earth, is perfectly disguised by a pair of sunglasses and gets power from our sun, but only if it as an alien that looks exactly like a stereotypical alpha white male american?

Lol your inability to comprehend this subject is hysterical.

It's not that I am incapable of accepting an alien with superpowers who isn't white. I could accept him if he was black, green or yellow. The problem is it's been established he's a tall white male with dark features.

Once something has been established it becomes accepted or cannon to that world's storyline, and maintaining that is about protecting the storyline.

Maybe in Alabama.

Because white Americans built Veejer and sent it out into space. Tehy came to a planet they thought was populated with people just like them. I bet they were upset when they got here.

It is stupid to get worked up about this. You saying that it is racist is just as stupid. You really have no clue what that word actually means.

Your inability to see past the amount of melanin in someone's skin is hysterical. You truly don't see how a black hermione does not affect the story in any way? Just because emma watson was cast as hermione in the movie (which is just a fricking adaptation of the original work in which her skin color was not mentioned) only white-skinned people can play her from now on?

So you want to disallow entire races of people from playing certain roles which have no relation to skin color? And you don't see how that is racist? You, sir, are an ignorant racist.

Beyoncé actually exists. Hermione Granger is a fictional character whose race is never specified in the books.

JK Rowling likes to screw with the more conservative readers. Hence going back and spelling out Dumbledore is gay. She likes giving shots across the bow to this audience. It's probably not in your best interest to be a fan of the HP series if you have a problem with typical SJW themes. The books cover a lot of these themes, if you are mad about black Hermione, it's pretty sad you even like the books in the first place.

I think the point is that talent and fit are more important in a role. This actress being black has nothing to do with her ability to put on a good performance as Hermoine.

Not a big deal. Theatre is always doing shite like this to be "edgy" and drum up controversy. Nothing to see here... move along.
