You mentioned some valid reasons that I respect the hell out of, but what gets me is the people who say no drinking simply because they are Baptist and choose not to drink and dont think others should either. That's inconsiderate IMO.

Are you talking about invites that you have received to events or parties given & paid for people on their private property (or property that the person is financially responsible for during time of party)?

Ok man sorry for making that assumption the wording just made me think that maybe you had some reservations about his line of work. Anyway doesn't sound like yall were too serious anyway. Enjoy the hunt.

They are going to drink lemonade and play games and watch this adult female open presents and blow out candles.

This is fricking pathetic.

There will be pimento cheese and olives and deviled eggs, balloons and a banner, some funny hats, much giggling and laughing, awkward side hugs, when you crack open a coke everyones eyes will glance over to make sure it isnt beer.

frick this party. This is worth a break up.

I don't even understand why you would think of bringing beer to a party to which you are an invited guest and at which obviously no liquor will be served?

Liar. Alcoholics are notorious liars.

Everyone in this party will engage in 5 minutes of small talk. They will ask how work is. You say busy but good. Then comes an awkward silence that is only broken by saying, well I'm gonna grab another finger sandwich.
This party will last from 2-4. What a time.

To save myself the embarrassment of asking if they have any booze.

If you are already getting the "you cant go one day without drinking?" spiel and you arent even married, let this one go.

Not at all. If it's her celebration and she asks there be no alcohol, then don't bring any. On your birthday, you can do whatever you want.

Man yall are some sad people. You can't fathom a get together with no booze being fun? It's kind of pathetic. 75% of my extended family does not drink and there has NEVER been booze at a family function and we get together 10-12 times a year. We never get together for less than 6-7 hours and there are zero awkward silences or sitting around bored to death. We thoroughly enjoy each others company and always wish the day hadn't gone by so fast. Kinda makes me wonder what yall's families are like that you have to be buzzed to stand each other. Is this normal? Am I an outlier with the great family relationships I have from my 86 year old grandma down to a 4 year old second cousin?

Just end the relationship now. All I had to do is read the OP and I'd bet the house that you two will break up and get back together a few times before permanently calling it quits.

Someone who immediately jumps to ending a relationship and then following it up with communication that should have happened before the break-up:

Save yourself some future grief and move on baw.
