I can, but there better be some drugs or blowjobs involved.

Avoid the urge to keep responding to this thread (at least until you give us an update after the party). Even that comment about how her dad usually offers you something to drink shows that the need to justify original stance is still lingering. This party is about and for her sister. You may have found the dad still doing the same, but until you are told otherwise it’s not uncommon for hosts of a party to cater to the party’s guest of honor and should have just went with what gf said about one party for her sister. The sister going to past family parties with alcohol that weren’t specifically for her actually came across as more flexible than you. There are plenty of things to take a stand on, but not being able to being alcohol to this one short & temporary event celebrating her sister’s birthday was not one of them.

10-12 times a year with family? Now that's the real nightmare....

Am I an outlier with the great family relationships I have from my 86 year old grandma down to a 4 year old second cousin?

Grow up. It's not your house. You're an invited guest. Respect their wishes or don't go.

Thanks for the update. I’m glad you were able to stay strong through such a traumatic event. If you need anything email Walt at TD.

Not your house?

You don't get to make the rules.

I don't even understand why you would think of bringing beer to a party to which you are an invited guest and at which obviously no liquor will be served?

When I went to my brother's wedding them baws had an ice chest literally holding the church doors open. One of the groomsmen fell asleep in the front row

So your girlfriend might have overreacted a little bit by flatout breaking up with you on the spot, but you’re definitely being a dick. It would be one thing if it was your birthday and they weren’t serving alcohol because of her sister and brother-in-law, but it’s her sister’s birthday and it isn’t at your house. You’re a guest. Abide by the fricking rules or don’t go. Also, yes, your girlfriend does have a right to be upset with you because you’re being pretty inconsiderate.

It appears you have a very fragile relationship that needs A LOT of work.

You only live once gramps. Get as fricked up as you can while you're here otherwise you'll go through life thinking what if. Nobody wants to do that especially when their sober
