Not at all, If I had young kids I would probably do it for them. But even then you can't produce at home what you can see a much better display somewhere locally put on by your city or local organization. My hometown puts on a great show every year on the night of the 3rd. Personally though I realized by the time I got old enough that my Dad said if you want them you have to buy it with your own money, that I was literally burning money.

I don't know if it's trashy, but it scares the shite out of pets and vets with PTSD.

I like to watch fireworks going off but I don’t have any desire to do any work.

I'd say the responses you are getting have more to do with what you plan on spending.

They don’t scare mine, but mine aren’t stupid either. And to think people aren’t going to do what they want because of pets of people they don’t even know is retarded.

Never really cared for fireworks, even as a kid, but it's most definitely not trashy.

It is trashy, but if it could be limited to one day it would be ok. The problem is the nightly deluge of noise and smoke that no one wants to hear or smell.

My neighbors used to be 3-4 nights in a row of fireworks, including work nights. They would launch in the street. Then, I let my Aussie Shepherd out the front door and she decimated the fireworks. She hates them, but she doesn't run and hide - she wants to "kill" them.

Then there's the types who fire off around midnight during the workweek.

So, polite fireworks use isn't trashy, but most of the time people are inconsiderate and obnoxious.

ETA: I like and get along well with the neighbor who had their fireworks "dogged." But, they were so into it they didn't listen when I said "No one needs to hear that shite on a work night."
