Some National Parks are shut down. Sucks to plan a trip there and not get the full experience. Lucky Arizona paid to keep the Grand Canyon National Park open so I can visit before the LSU bowl game.

The biggest issue I see in our area is for people trying to get a home in a required flood zone

Good news hombre, you actually are getting paid. You just won't get the check until the government reopens.

If you stock up on rice and beans you should be able to make it through.

Good luck!

I assume it means taxes will be reduced proportionately based on the lack of federal employees working, so that will be a benefit.

This shutdown is Trump's fault, but the last shutdown was Congress's fault right?

You have a jackass president who is responsible for the shutdown (he said that he would shut it down and take responsibility for doing so although his tweets contradict what he said on camera. Both parties agreed to keep the government open until February so that they could get passed the holidays and then come back and work things out, but he wouldn't sign that bill). And he don't give a shite if there are people who need the money the most, will not get paid..

I plan on taking the family to Yellowstone next summer. If the government shuts down after I drive to Wyoming I will be pissed.

Exactly. I love how Democrats are acting like this is the end of the world. I as a libertarian love government shutdowns, because these nonessential jobs are just that: nonessential. We could cut the government in fricking half.

That’s the beauty of it, nobody (other than the government employees) will ever notice or care.

Congress passed a bill to keep the government open through February so that when they come back from the holidays they could work on a compromise. Both republicans and democrats agreed to it.

quote:

Schumer: Twenty times you have called for, “I will shut down the government if I don’t get my wall.” None of us have said —

Trump: You want to know something? Schumer: You’ve said it. Trump: Okay, you want to put that on my —

Schumer: You said it.

Trump: I’ll take it.

Schumer: Okay, good.

Trump: You know what I’ll say: Yes, if we don’t get what we want, one way or the other — whether it’s through you, through a military, through anything you want to call — I will shut down the government. Absolutely.

Schumer: Okay. Fair enough. We disagree.

Trump: And I am proud — and I’ll tell you what —

Schumer: We disagree.

Trump: I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck, because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into our country. So I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it. The last time you shut it down, it didn’t work. I will take the mantle of shutting down.

This is all on Trump.

BTW, I was a republican until Trump became the republican candidate for president. I made a decision, for the first time since I could vote, not to vote for president because I thought it was an embarrassment to our country that the two major candidates were Hillary Clinton & Donald Trump.

I voted for McCain in 08 and Obama in 2012..

Just a FYI this is to clear up any perceptions you might have,

WTF do they need a compromise for. The republicans own the house, senate and presidency RIGHT NOW! They have all the power and don't do jack and try to blame the dems. What a bunch of losers.

(For the record, I am a repub, but these guys are making me sick.)
