But also remember that our Republican supermajority Legislature could have ended the mandate at any time and didn't.

If I remember correctly, the law basically said that their petition in only the LA House to end mandates was unconstitutional as written. I think the law says the petition must be put forth and signed by the House or Senate. But the law also says public health emergency mandates have the effect of law, meaning they need both the House and Senate to overturn.

They tried to pass this
quote:

The Republican-passed bill sponsored by Covington Rep. Mark Wright would have given lawmakers the ability to nullify individual pieces of a governor’s emergency order by a majority vote through a ballot for any emergency declaration extended beyond 30 days.

But JBE laughed on his way to veto it.

Is this the thread where we come to pretend that our officials actually care what we think? These people live on their own little island are are drunk with the power that they have.

I would challenge them to get out of their bubbles and actually talk with people who don't kiss their asses all day.

Well Destroya sure gets out and talks to people. It might mean screaming to them, talking down to them, or being a drunk idiot while talking, but she talks.

If it's like the hospitals in Lafayette, it depends on who you are, as to whether or not you'll get your exemption approved. I know someone who got one approved for being Catholic.

Yeah we are almost down to the pre-delta numbers now. The numbers won’t get much lower. It was basically hovering between 250-300 in April, May, and June

Someone should tell Dr. O’Neal that BR has been at pre-delta levels for a couple weeks.

Based on the comments he made last press conference, I'm saying no.

Not sure how one can logically justify continuing to mandate something that does not work and literally no one outside school children an patrons at a few Karen-owned businesses even bother enforce...but I'm sure he'll still re-hash the BS he used to try to justify it last time.

There is a mask mandate? Why do you people worry about this shite?

I went to top golf Sunday, there was a sign "please wear mask". You know how many people had mask on? The workers had them "on",but not covering their face.

I keep a mask in my vehicle just in case, but other than a doctors appointment and one time in August when the numbers spiked I went into the Walmart Marketplace on Highland and Lee and they were requiring people to wear mask. I put it on, went inside to get what I needed... 10 mins.. I was out and took my mask of. But most places seem to have a sign but not really being all that strict at all.. So I don't know why people are still worked up about mask.

Because unlike you some people aren’t virgins and have children that are being forced to wear them at school.

Yeah everyone around us is not wearing mask, but the schools have too. That’s why we should care!

You're much more generous than I am.

That a-hole thinks fiscal competency is shilling for as much federal dollars as he can and the mask mandate helps him do that.

He's not likely at all to lift it.

If he actually does lift it, I automatically wonder what he got under the table in return for it.

Only if you have been vaccinated with booster shots. But you have to get “I’m vaccinated”
tattooed on your forehead with a check mark for every booster you’ve gotten. Otherwise, you still have to mask up.

The more this is pointed out when people trot out the ‘muh, what mask mandate’ line, the stupider they look. It’s remarkable how it’s the same people IN EVERY frickING THREAD on this. It’s beyond dense.
