With the dry weather, Id bet most Louisiana and Mississippi creeks have way more.

There's a lot of wildlife in Atlanta, including in the city itself. That could have been on or near Nancy or Peachtree creek. Parts of the video looked like some areas along the Yellow River in Dekalb county near Stone Mountain. I thought Atlanta was a bit too far north for cottonmouths, but I guess not. We see deer, foxes, coyotes quite often, along with hawks and owls and we're not far outside of 285.

i live very close to both Nancy and Peachtree Creeks and I doubt we have Cottonmouths this far north

Probably Timber Rattlers around Palisades area of the Chattahoochee in N buckhead/ Sandy Springs

everything ive reas says almost all Cottonmouths in Ga are south of the fall line

Never be the second through a cane break.

North Atlanta Suburbs:

About three weeks ago my buddy and his son were walking back to their car after a swim meet. They’re walking down the sidewalk and the son walks by a bush. My buddy is right behind him, wearing sandles, and gets hit by a cottonmouth.

After a month his leg is starting to get back to normal.

I've seen Cottonmouths at High Falls State Park in Monroe County, which is north of the Fall Line but not that far north of it.

I was fishing on the Tombigbee River once and a CM tried to get in the boat with us. My buddy was firing his pistol at it and I was swinging a boat paddle at it. We cranked up and got the hell outta Dodge. That SOB was aggressive!

East Cobb - near Sandy Plains and Holly Springs intersection. I live near there and never would imagine I’d get got walking down the sidewalk of my neighborhood. I see deer all the time + rabbits, foxes, coyotes and everything but venomous snakes surprised me.

I’ll didn’t ask him about the bill. I’ll text him tomorrow. He is one of the higher-ups at a major healthcare provider here so it may be different?

The snake:

His foot early on:

The swelling stopped mid-thigh but his leg looked like it was about to explode.

A few weeks ago I found 23 cottonmouths in 1 night at Apalachicola National Forest, including 11 at one little puddle. It was a little pond that had dried to a puddle and was full of fish, so the cottons were hanging around. My instagram reel of it got 625,000 views.

…big one swallowing a fish while a crawfish crawls over his back.

Also, while I walked among them getting video, not a single one struck or did anything other than try to get away. There were plenty more there - I could here them crawling through the weeds trying to get away. Not a single one chased me.

I stopped at several culverts, and each one had 3-4 cottonmouths, but that one in particular was the jackpot. Could’ve found more but we hit the cottons last after road cruising some pygmy rattlers and other snakes, and we were ready to call it a night.

Wut? Atlanta was literally built in a forest, of course you're gonna have snakes.

Maybe bc it’s not a forest anymore. Just a hunch.

And thanks for the nightmare fuel this morning.

I was sad we didn’t end up buying a house with a creek running through our property, but now I’m thanking the heavens. Do these demons often travel across the street to yards with bushes and vines?

It's an area well known for cottonmouths, so no real surprises here

East Cobb

That does look a lot like Gold Branch near Willeo Park, but I guess a lot of the trails look like that.
