Bad thing about those is they suck at putting out heat

Get yourself one of these heat deflectors and problem solved.

They allow those at your dorm? I'm surprised.

Tell ‘em. Living in the city is for idiots. If you got a hospital and Home Depot, what else do you need?

I bought a mat for protection- hopefully not

Not sure what the mat is made out of, but those pits generate enormous amounts of heat underneath them. I used a 3cm piece of granite as my heat break and found out (on top of wood deck). Don't leave that bitch unattended.

Get the over-priced heat deflector shield or make one yourself. Those around the fire actually wanting to be warm will appreciate you.

I have been using this for two years with no effect on my deck.

Those are nice but they give off no heat. You have to sit right on top of it to get warm.

The wood is too big to all go in the pit

If only there was a way to make pieces of wood smaller. Maybe one day.
The chances that this dude owns a chainsaw are nil.

With a backyard like that, I was expecting to see a pit bull, instead of a little pooky poo dog wearing a sweater.

The wood HAS to be below the top rim.

Yes, they do put out some decent heat.
