People are idiots with their dogs.

I find pet owners just in large are oblivious to how annoying their animal can be. In my neighborhood we have those that let them roam without a leash, go into others yards. We also have those that leave them in their yards to bark incessantly (I've had to get a bark control device and place it in my yard to be able to enjoy my backyard).

What really blew my mind is when my wife used to work as a therapist that went in home. She would come over for a session and the dog would come storming out licking her, jumping in her lap climbing and scratching her pants. Owners would generally respond with some of the bullshite..oh he likes you, or "oh just tell him to get down....no be forceful...say it like you mean it!" Hey...maybe it's kinda your job to control the dog??

You are an idiot. It is simply people better understanding animal behavior, and using it to increase their chances of having a positive interaction with something they love, dogs.

Pussification of America is nut jobs like you getting offended over stuff like this.

And there are laws in some places regarding this!! But apparently it’s okay to let your cats out to shite everywhere (which is more annoying than dog shite)

Brother, if you come up to my Australian Shepherd and just start petting him, you won’t like what happens and it has nothing to do with me. MFer is hyper protective of my wife and I. He will bite you. But hey, you do you!

I was really surprised when my Aussie exhibited the same type of protectionism. I had owned Belgian Malinois and other big dogs, but I've never had one as protective as my Aussie. She also knows commands (a secret one for "attack", "hold" to block someone from approaching, and "sweep" which it running someone off.

I think I've told this story on here before, but in most places it is the same with cats as it with dogs - they aren't supposed to roam freely. My blue heeler is smart as shite and can escape from just about anything. The stupid neighbor's cat likes to come into my fenced backyard and taunt my dog until he breaks out of the fence to chase after the stupid thing. Then I'll get a call while I'm in a meeting from this dumb bitch that my dog is out of my backyard. I tried to discuss it with her and her response was - "there are a lot of cats roaming around the neighborhood - how do you know it's mine"?

Because I catch the goddam thing on my cameras you stupid bitch.

What about when you go get in your vehicle in the morning and there is cat paws all on the top and down your windshield? I don't know why, but that shite annoys me.

Of all the things to go after you go with “petting dogs”

“Can I pet you” is in the same vein as asking someone their gender pronouns.. rant off

My dog is sweet and kind, but he'll take your hand off if you come in hot towards him.

Go find another thing to be an internet hardo over.

If you pet my aussie, he will let you. Then, if you try to stop, he will grab your hand with his paw and try to force you to keep petting him. Then, all 60lbs of him will try to give you a hug and/or climb into your lap. He’s a big sweet boi.

well OP, that stance is exactly how you're supposed to approach an animal(a domesticated animal,) that hasn't had the pleasure of meeting you, it can also double as a knuckle check greeting at Sonic's

You know what I’m talking about- meekly walking up to another persons dog and offering them a limp wristed hand.

Maybe because most people like dogs, want to pet a dog, and dont want their hand ripped off their wrist for the effort.
