How many of those passengers do you think shat themselves?

I’ve been on a couple of flights like that. Maybe not to that degree, but you could tell we weren’t aligned with the runway, and could feel the swerve and rotation when the wheels grabbed.

depends......b-52s are designed to do this with rotating landing gear. Was he an ex b-52 pilot?

My pilot buddy said no biggy when I asked.
I guess being a bush pilot in AK landing on mountains etc will do that for you.

Pilot explains how to land a 737 in crosswind
Quick video on what goes into these landings. This guy has a lot of good, informative videos.

Picture a river with a swift current. If you want to swim straight across the river, you have to aim upstream an amount relative to the current to swim a straight line. Maybe a little over simplified, but the principle stands.

I was in a landing in a storm in Houston once that was so scary the whole plane gasped and cheered. Eventually the captain came to the back to brag about his flight experience in the Navy.
BTW that gif doesn't do the landing justice, the video is incredible.

Wind is blowing from the left side of the plane, so he yaws the plane into the wind to compensate. The plane is aiming to the left but because of the wind, it is actually flying straight. When the wheels touch down, it will jerk to the right somewhat and roll straight down the runway...hopefully.

I would have had to change my pants when I got off the plane if I were a passenger.
