I got stopped for having to many lights on the front of my truck. Cop said it wasn’t foggy enough to be running my light bars in my bumper. I use them at night to project out to the side to see deer.

Yes it’s illegal to have more than your dims or brights on unless it incremental weather but really geesh

Good. People who drive around with a bunch of aftermarket lights turned on are assholes.

ETA: Also people who drive around with their fog lights on in good weather because they think it looks cool.

I've seen sheriffs and state police do this a couple of times. In the center turning lane at night with no lights. Each time, I called the LSP and the EBRSO and told them there was a unit in the middle of the road with no lights and somehting might be wrong.

90% of the time I'm speeding in Texas, I'm let go with a warning since I'm traveling for work.

Louisiana, you get stopped it's automatically a ticket. I'll be moving up to central Arkansas in the next few weeks. Not because of tickets but because I'll enjoy it there.

Every ticket I’ve paid over the years I knew I was over the speed limit when I got pulled over. I wasn’t a dick about getting pulled over so they weren’t dicks about it. Got off with a couple warnings by not being a dick about it.

What an absolutely refreshing statement of logic and personal accountability. Have a glass of bourbon, my treat.

Seriously bro, I'm not saying there AREN'T unmarked police cars, but the overwhelming majority of police cars look like this and are visibly police cars:

Police follow the laws of jurisdiction, they do not make the laws. If there is a "speed trap" it is because the town or city government and the locals have asked for it to be enforced.

People don't have to abide by stupid rules or laws. Cops don't have to write a ticket to someone going 36 in a 35. People at McDonalds don't have to give out 2 packs of ketchup per order because it's company policy. Everyone should acknowledge stupid rules as stupid and not enforce them.

Speed traps in small towns are a known evil. Louisana has some of the worst.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/nicksibilla/2019/08/29/nearly-600-towns-get-10-of-their-budgets-or-more-from-court-fines/?sh=4326c7d84c99

Louisiana article

quote:

In an article published this month looking at the reliance of traffic fines and forfeitures on small town budgets, Governing magazine found a passel of Louisiana municipalities right at the top nationally. Worried speed traps would hurt tourism Louisiana legislators and officials over the past dozen years have tried new laws.

Number 1 is Georgetown, a village of 500 people on U.S. Hwy. 165 between Alexandria and Monroe. The Governing analysis found that nearly $500,000 – 92 percent of the town’s budget – was raised on the side of the road by its cops.

Fenton is Number 2. Also, on U.S. 165, the town of about 400 is between Interstate 10 and Kinder and its police wrote up more than $1.2 million in fines or about 91 percent of 2017 general fund revenues. (Governing also noted the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s report that a lot of that money never was deposited in the town’s bank account.)

The Governing chart shows Baskin, in Franklin Parish; Henderson, at the foot of the I-10 bridge across the Atchafalaya Basin; and Robeline, in Natchitoches Parish; round out the top five.

Thanks geauxturbo.

FYI
I did not get a ticket. I live in the area and know to slow down when approching that crappy little nursery capital of LA town.

What he was doing was dangerous as hell....thus "
According to the statutes its against the law to park on a highway. No exception for emergency vehicles"

A town with the populaton of 599 (as per 2021 census) has absolutely zero need for 5 "police" vehicles....yep, 5.
