Shoes off for obvious reasons. I don't want to track nasty shite inside the house. Of course if I am going in and out, I'll probably keep them on.

I prefer guests to take theirs off, but I don't ask unless its raining and muddy outside.

I'll leave them on if I'm carrying in groceries or something. Otherwise, they're off at the door.

Went to a friends place where they requested we take our shoes off while inside. I proceeded to step in water spilled on the floor and had to go the evening with a wet sock…. Why?

They should supply slippers if they request that. We are about to move into a new house. We intend to take shoes off, but we are not going to be totalitarian about it.

When I come home I change into shorts, t-shirt, and put on my house shoes. Same for my wife except she usually wears sweats, yoga, or pj pants. About the only time either of us are just barefoot is in the shower or bed.

Have any of you "Shoes on" people ever considered the piss and shite you're stepping on every time you walk into a public restroom? Ever step in dog shite or gum? And you don't mind rubbing that all over the house?

Generally though, I don't mind shoes on tile/hardwood. They're easy enough to clean and I shouldn't be lying down on tile/hardwood. But absolutely no on carpet. Carpet gets gross enough as it is. And I occasionally might lie down or wrestle with my kids in the carpeted rooms.

Not a nazi about it with guests, though, unless it's an egregious offense. MY FIL walked on brand new carpets we literally just had installed the day before with muddy shoes once. Left mud tracks all over. The MIL scolded him thankfully so I didn't have to say anything. Ol' baw was totally oblivious to it

I get home, have a drink, change into comfortable clothes, have another drink, wear slides around the house for the rest of the evening.

Those are for me alone. And yes, they’re exquisite.

Work shoes off in the garage when I get home. Typically barefoot around the house unless it's a little chilly, then I wear my minnetonka moccasins.

Usually off when I put on my house clothes which are cutoffs and a wife beater.

So like, you take them off and carry them to your bedroom?

I don't wear my yard shoes in the house. I take the off and keep them on a shelf in the laundry room.

But we wear just regular shoes inside. I've never lived in a house where people didn't wear shoes inside.

Are y'all worried your house guests will go Rick James on your sofa?
