I only have to politely ask a certain few…and they are generally contractors.

Wait.. what? You make contractors take their shoes off when they’re working in your house?

When we lived down south, shoes on. When we moved to Iowa, everyone takes their shoes off when visiting someone else’s house.

Generally yes with a few exceptions.

Appliance guy? Shoes off or put on some booties. They generally carry them if they are worth a shite.

When I had new windows installed I installed floor paper and I had lower expectations for cleanliness. But that’s a whole different job and shoes off is the last concern. Dust gets everywhere and we lined up a deep cleaning service the day after.

Had painters in the house. Shoes came off.

Once I get home I like to put on my flip-flops and wear them until I go to bed. But I don't care if anybody wears his shoes if they want to or they can take them off if they're more comfortable with them off.

I take mine off as I walk in the house and put on house shoes or flip flops that stay in the house. I’m not a neat freak, just a habit I got in years ago. I don’t make guests remove their shoes.

Off. Those shoes you want to wear in the house are the same ones you were wearing when you went into the bathroom at work, grocery store, etc. The same shoes you wore while pumping gas. The same shoes you wore for your doctor's visit. Not in my house, thank you!

Slippers are made for wearing inside the house.

Shoes off and Old Navy sandals on, I’m not walking barefoot anywhere.

Do y'all have a bunch of carpet in the house or something? We mop the floors and don't generally walk around barefooted anyway at home.

Didn’t you already say you wear “house shoes” inside? It’s effectively the same thing…

Only because they are easy to slip off and on that's usually what I wear at home. I don't really go barefoot much. But I'll wear the shoes I've had on all day for hours at home too.

You don't piss off as many people as I have and just willingly wander around without some good runners on your feet

I am barefoot in the house and outside, in the yard. Strangely enough, I always forget to take my shoes off at my Chinese friend's house because if feels too "relaxed", but is a cultural thing for her. She always has to remind me, even though it's my preferred state to be without shoes.

My husband usually has flip-flops on at home, unless in the yard, then barefoot. He always remembers to remove his shoes at our friend's house. He is clearly more mindful than I am.

I'd leave the fridge on the porch before I installed some booties

Not a hard rule but I almost always take my shoes off at the front door and wear Nike slides around the house. Don’t like the idea of dirt/public ground in my bedroom and living room.
