Got the chicken pox at age 32. I got the shingles vax and never had a reaction. I heard the shingles sucks. In general I’d rather a vax than the disease.

the only thing worse than the Shingles vaccine is getting the Shingles. I got the shot.

I guess the OT's consensus is good with the Shingles vax but not the Covid vax?

My 80 year old MIL (no pictures) currently has shingles and she actually got the shingles vax. Not sure how that happened. It does not look like much fun so agree with you.

I got the shingles vaxs and had almost no reaction to them.

An old friend got it and it hit him like a ton of bricks. Couldn't lift his arm for several days.

About 30 years ago, I contracted a case of it. Half of my upper body was broken out with blisters and it was so painful that any clothing was painful.

I was off work for over a week and didn't want to go back when I did.

Whatever you can do to prevent it, I highly recommend you do.

Thanks for all your responses. The OT baws and bawettes are the best.

Got the shingles vax scheduled for next. Hopefully I don't have a bad reaction to it.

To whoever suggested to take an ibuprofen before, that is noted and I will do.

Thanks a bunch.

My Dr advised me to get the shot. Had second case of shingles this past fall. It was on my face and surrounded one of my eyes. Crap was very painful. First case was in college 35-plus years ago.

Dr said since this case was severe he would recommend the shot. I have yet to schedule it though.

What is the vaccine going to do different than what the virus you already had won't do?

I've known several who got shingles. That was enough to convince me to get the shots. Now, my arm hurt for a few days after each shot, but that was better than shingles.

If she got the earlier, single-shot vax, it was only claimed to be "better than 50 percent effective." That's the one I got prior to getting shingles.

Get it.

I had the shots, got what was diagnosed as shingles in December. Wasn’t nearly as painful from what I’m told by people who didn’t get the shots.

More terrible case of itching than painful.

It’s the only vax I’ve taken (and I’ve had them all including every COVID shot and booster) that I had any side effects from. Made me feel like I had a mild case of the flu the next day, but from what I’ve heard, seen and read shingles is not something you want to mess with!

Just to follow up.
Got the Shingrix vax Friday morning.
No reactions other than my shoulder is a little sore and was a tad sluggish that night.

Saturday morning woke up feeling great again.

Thanks again to the OTers and even the tards who down voted this thread.

I never took the covid B.S. My doctor never asked about it or recommended it. The only recommendation was for me to take the shingles vaccine since I had turned 50. I was two shots a couple months apart. One of the shots gave me a slight fever for a couple hours but nothing serious. I had a friend of the family that caught shingles (in his 30's) and he lost his eye. Several of my family members had it and said it was hell. I took the vaccine, it has been 4 years and fine so far.

I took the shingles vaccine. It was two shots six weeks apart. I had no side effects. I suggest you get it.

This might end up being an OT downvote opinion but my opinion is that vaccines are well researched and safe — but the post-pandemic ones I.E. COVID are not vaccines, they’re glorified gene therapy, and you should be wary about putting those into your body

Shingles passes my personal safety test. Don’t take the clot shot unless you’re like 75

Drs went to school for that long for a reason. I trust them when it comes to there jobs, its why i went to them after all

That is a big mistake. Everyone needs to be his own primary care physician. If you’re not, nobody is, because doctors aren’t incentivized to keep you healthy.
