Quite a few studies have shown similar results, with a significant reduction in dementia, especially for women, who take the vaccine for shingles.
This information has been out there for awhile.
The article is poorly written ( typical NY Post), but there's soild science to back it up.

Shingrx (sp?) Is the one they're talking about, its not MRNA.
MRNA vaccines are showing tremendous promise in fighting certain types of cancers though.

Mine was around torso. About 6 weeks of discomfort from start to finish. It hurt to take a deep breath like what I would imagine a broke rib to feel like.

I didn't have any side effects, maybe sore arm for a day.

Mine is around torso also. The rash is gone, but the pain is at it's worst now.

No. You need to have gotten chicken pox to be susceptible to shingles. It’s the same virus. Once you have chicken pox, the virus lies dormant in your nervous system.
In fact, you can give someone else chicken pox if you are having a shingles outbreak.

Nope.
“More susceptible“ is not the same as requiring a prerequisite to getting a disease at all. There is zero chance of getting shingles without first having chicken pox.
It’s not technically false but it’s misleading at best.

Had it 2 years ago on left side of face and scalp. Worst pain ever. Eye involvement had me in hospital for 6 days on IV antivirals. Pain meds didn’t help.
Face and scalp felt like it was on fire. Death would have been a relief.
Steroid eye drops for the rest of my life in case of another flair up.

I was in my mid-50’s when I got the two shot series. I don’t remember having any side effects at all. No idea what the variables are that create the very different reactions to the vaccine.

I am sure you have.
It has potential side effects from mild to serious, just like most everything in life. Statistically, it has a lower danger than the first time a person eats shellfish.

Some people get this on their head, and that has to be a nightmare.
I remember going to urgent care the night I got back from a work trip to get it looked at. I was just starting to get red blotches and felt like shite the whole week. As soon as he walked in he said, "oh wow, you're pretty young to have shingles".

My otherwise healthy dad got roped into the shingles vax several years back. Ended up with a case of shingles that last 4 or 5 months. Not long after he was then diagnosed with MDS and eventually Crohn’s disease. I watched him go from a healthy 200 lbs down to a low of 94 lbs at the beginning of the year. It is a small miracle that he’s been able to put on 60lbs of weight since then. Take that vax at your own risk.

Several people have had problems with the reaction to the second shot. For me it felt like the flu.
