I've had shingles on my scalp, neck, and shoulders. Not fun. My brother got the vaccine and it gave him Bell's Palsy.

It depends on where you get it. Some people get this on their head, and that has to be a nightmare. It may not be too bad if you get it on a leg though.

If you never had chicken pox, should you get the vaccine or is the risk of Bell's palsy the bigger concern?

How do you know there's a correlation between Bell's Palsy and a shingles vaccine?
One of my good friends got Bells Palsy many, many years ago. It wasn't from a Shingles vax.

I could be mistaken, but I don’t think you can get shingles without having had chicken pox. You may be interested in the chicken pox vaccine.

I've had shingles twice. Mild both times and confined to my torso. Didn't impact my day-to-day at all.
I also got the first shingles vaccine shot and I felt waaaaay worse than I did with with my one and only COVID shot.
Figured my immune system must be pretty built up from the first two times of shingles to bother with the second.

I've had it twice. First time was bad and resulted in neurogenic back pain that lasted for years.
Second time, I knew what the onset "tingle" felt like and took Valtrex immediately and stopped it in its tracks.

I've got shingles right now and my physician described it as a "really bad case". The best words to describe the symptoms, pain and discomfort are miserable and unrelenting. I also know someone who got in on their face and in their eye and ended up with permanent partial vision loss.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend getting the vaccine.
