I'd love to move to Denver. I've applied to a few jobs there but nothing really budging, for obvious reasons.

I was asked if I would be interested in a position in Denver by a start up O&G company last year. I was hesitant, as they were new and I'm aware of the volatility in O&G. That company just recently went bankrupt.

It's been worse. Inland is staying pretty busy pushing grain and raw materials they're pretty well insulated because low natural gas prices are keeping the plants running balls out. The fast supply boats and and 275-325' supply boats are having a hard time getting contracts. There's just not a whole hell of alot going on in the gulf right now.

Tiger ham, I'm in pittsburgh. The marcellus is the cheapest place to still drill but I made a switch from drilling optimization to DD in Jan. Then the bottom fell out. I am enjoying my break though. May go back lsu and finally finish my degree

I will say this. I have 2 uncles that are in the same profession as I am and both make great livings.
One is married with 3 teenage kids. Lives a very modest life. In no way lives above his means.
The other is recently married for the third time, one grown kid he doesn't even speak to and if there is one white collar oil field trash person in this world it's him. He built a nice house with a huge shop a few years ago. Has 3 dirt bikes. A 2500 Dodge Ram. A 2014 corvette and an airplane.

Gotcha. Got a classmate of mine up there working for Cabot. He's supposed to finish his thesis by December to graduate to keep his job, but last I heard he hadn't even started it. Hope he gets it done.

I think we have different definitions of "cookie cutter". There are some home builders out here that have $500,000 floor plan houses they will build you. To me, if there is a floor plan already established, that equals cookie cutter.

I had a job lined up with them last week. They redid the budget and can't hire me now. Did feel good speaking with their drilling manager. I've worked on their rigs before and he wanted to hire me but they scrapped the proposal to bring in 9 more rigs. I had already started to look for a place closer to their office. Atleast I know I was first choice for a job that evaporated

Well luckily I am still working for now. My hiring got pushed back and I had to switch segments twice but was finally brought on in early spring. Luckily for right now and the near future we are balls to the wall busy. However it's not what I want to be doing and doesn't lead to my end goals as career wise so I am still looking. Can't complain though, pretty secure in a well paying job.

Got an email about a completions job outside of Denver that I am probably going to apply to tonight. Would love to get out of LA for awhile. Colorado has always been top on the list. Houston is another. Ham if I ever get there want do it just like your setup.

I hated Houston with a deep passion. I made a ton of money there, but was miserable. My cousin is in oil over there, but loss of jobs are drying up, unless you get involved with closing wells.
Denver is also another sprawled out American metropolis. But it's a pretty badass version of it. I moved up to Boulder this time, but my dog being illegal was a big reason. But I really love this area. Great weather overall, and still outdoors activities available when it snows.
