Seven year old Long Island child killed by stab torture

A helpless 7-year-old girl was tortured to death in a Long Island house of horrors by three generations of women — and was so badly battered that she died with 90 stab wounds on her body, prosecutors said.
Little Jor’Dynn Duncan was terrorized for at least a year inside the Bayport home, where 50-year-old Emily Kelly — who had been given custody of the child — and her mother and daughter allegedly abused the girl until her tiny body gave out, Suffolk County prosecutors said Wednesday.
“This was not an alleged single act of violence,” Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said in a statement. “It was months of alleged systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse, meticulously documented.

Jo’Dynn, whose father is Kelly’s fiancé, was placed in the home by Child Protective Services in December 2024 — with the accused killer getting custody and guardianship in April 2025.

Provocative thought: if there is a loving and compassionate God, why does he let children suffer through things like this?

I’ve asked this multiple times and have never received an answer. I sincerely don’t understand it.

A subtle thing about child care services nationwide is the change Obama made relative to “kinship” care. His DHH got legislation passed that does two things: 1. Recognizes non-related acquaintances as “kin”. This could literally be the neighbor, girlfriend of the Dad, or anyone who has a theoretical connection to the family.
2. Creates a presumption that the child is best placed with “kin” over a foster home. I’m not saying foster care is the best, but generally speaking, it’s better than “Kinfolk” who previously did nothing to care for or otherwise support the child. Foster care as a pathway to adoption, especially for children under three. Likewise “kin” are eligible for a number of government financial benefits for taking in the child. Once you adapt the child, however, you are no longer eligible.

Once again, let's turn our healthcare over to government employees because they are wonderful at their jobs.

Let me guess their welfare money and snap weren't enough

Good question.
God didn't do this to the poor child. Fallen, sinful humans did.
Love, by definition, must be an act of the will. It cannot be coerced or forced from someone.
As creatures of free will, we can either choose love or choose evil. God has given us that dignity. Otherwise, we are just his robots.
The skeptic's typical response to this is that God doesn't actually give us a choice, because otherwise we go to Hell.
This is a misconception of what Hell is. God didn't create it to punish people who don't do what he wants. Hell is separation from God. If there is an afterlife, there are only two possibilities: we'll either be with God or not. God has given us that choice. God doesn't want anyone to go to hell, but someone who does not learn how to use their God-given free will to lay their lives down for the sake of others will sadly not be able to enjoy Heaven, which is union with God.
Ironically, Heaven would seem like hell to an evil, selfish person. So, God honors that person's desire to not be with Him.
The perpetrators of this terrible act have clearly chosen to reject God's ways and embrace their own ways. The result is a blackened and evil heart desperately in need of repentance and God's grace.

Yep, the father is in prison. The bio mom is dead. The perp is the girlfriend of the criminal dad.

quote:in no shape, form or fashion is this a provocative thought. it has been asked billions of times and answered a billion times in every conceivable way to anyone with a logical, objective viewpoint on the subject. mostly nowadays, though, it's a rhetorical question where the person asking it isn't actually asking, but stating it, and no theological/philosophical answer from 2 millenia of it being answered is going to suffice for that person. low iq individuals use it as a "gotcha" when it's anything but that.

They will have to answer to God for this and the judgement will be harsh.
Absolutely evil hearts!

Why is there any need for St Jude’s/Shriners, etc.

Old people get up early and are obsessed with death, dying, and sharing bad news with each other.
I don't get it. Seems like a miserable way to live.
