Semi Trucks Passing Each Other

A comment below about big trucks hogging the left lane reminded me of a question regarding these trucks: do they have governors or other devices that limit their top speed?
I have a part time retirement job delivering and picking up vehicles for a dealership, and it aggravates me to no end when one truck passes another and it takes a long time to accomplish the move. Very often a backup accumulates behind the passing vehicle as it slowly creeps ahead of the truck in the right lane.
If they are speed limited, given the abilities of modern electronics, I wish something could be programmed to allow temporary bursts of power or speed so that a passing maneuver did not take 5 minutes.
So FWIW, that's my first world trivial problem of the day . . .

I call the number in the back and say the driver kept looking sideways at my penis at a rest stop urinal. Give them the nearest rest stop to you and it’s hard for the guy to defend himself later.

They have governors I believe, and yes, it is agonizing.

I know someone who drives cross country and yes most of them have governors and are set at 68MPH max.

I salute all Truckers who are fluent in reading and writing English and who can consistently navigate our American highways without causing a Mass Casualty Event involving mangled human bodies strewn all over the road.

Too many illegals on the roads.

It’s dangerous when anyone goes slow in the left lane.

This is where the focus should be. It's scary sometimes to think about who you are driving 65 mph besides or who is coming at you.

What I don't understand is, for a semi to have to pass another semi, that means that the person in the back is going too fast or person in the front is going too slow. Otherwise, they wouldn't have to pass, ever. In either case, it shouldn't take 20 miles to make a full pass.
I understand semi's are necessary to commerce, but they are THE cause of traffic everywhere I go.

This exists it’s just not as widely adopted as it should be unfortunately. I’ve been saying for forever it should be mandatory on governed trucks.

Saw a guy on youtube talking about this just a couple days ago. He was bitching about how his company limits their trucks to 72 mph. He said some companies even govern them to a slow as 65 mph.

Automated trucking cant get here fast enough.

Some companies limit the speed to like 65 or 63. Owner ops and local companies are likely to not have it and can easily pass other trucks

Yes most of the large carriers get a savings on insurance with a reduced speed. Most are between 62-67mph flat on the floor board. It’s infuriating lol

Hey, unlike Louisiana, at least their governor is effective!

the most "mission essential" job in the US is long haul driver. I give them a lot of grace, from having their ol' lady cheat on them, to banging lot lizards, to being addicted to nicotine and caffeine and pissing in bottles just so I can get my Amazon deliveries in 3 hours. God Bless You Mr OTR Driver.

I think most have governors but, IMO, the bigger issue is when a truck goes to pass another and then the other truck seems to speed up. To me, if you're going slow enough that another truck feels the need to pass, let up on the accelerator for a moment to allow them to get on around you.
