Yep, had my furniture in one for about 6 months while I waited on the right house to buy (Was renting a little house) and when I moved out the owner called me the next day from another state.
Said "I noticed you moving your stuff out yesterday on camera and wanted to make sure you were out and ready to cancel rent"
You sign up online and he calls you when he sees you moved your stuff out. Never met or talked to anyone until I moved out.

ETA: I searched. There are some that allow vehicles in a unit $109 a month in Shreveport. I couldn't find the rules, e.g. will they allow an older vintage car that leaks?
Fire hazard? They are mostly all metal and concrete block. We store the wifes car in one during he winter months to keep it indoors. 10' x 20' costs about $180 month. (She needs this large of one to keep from running into all the doors and walls).

Instead of putting it in a storage unit that I visit a couple times a year at most.
Oh I'd drive it around anytime it was nice. But I doubt I'd keep it at my house unless I build a new garage.

I rented one for 60 days in the last year. They required me to pay like $15 a month for insurance on my stuff. I asked the person working there if anybody had ever had anything stolen or filed a claim. She said not in the 7 years she had worked there.

I found it odd this morning I saw a facebook post from a guy I went to high school with about his storage location leaking. This guy is a lefty commie always bitching about not having enough but here he is renting storage for what I can assume is mostly junk. I still have some old video games and comics but nothing that would warrant a storage unit.

Exactly. Unless you are only using the unit while you're between places for a short term, you are unlikely to actually use the contents in many situations.

This. They build these houses with no storage. They use preassembled trusses that means the attic shouldn't be used for storage. Basements aren't common in my area. They put in front load garages that can barely fit two cars empty. And then the HOAs prohibit sheds. Where do they keep the lawn equipment? Tools? Kid toys? Holiday decorations?

Student loans are backed by the federal government. So it is political.
People who fill a storage with extra stuff are hoarders. It has nothing to do with their college expenses. Secondly, if they are too poor to buy a house, they are probably too poor to pay for a storage.
Lastly, making a blanket statement that millennials can’t afford houses because they have student loans is asinine. I don’t know a single person my age who doesn’t own a home.

Exactly. And usually within ten years there are cars parked everywhere on both sides of the streets because the kids who moved in when they were young eventually grow up and start driving and there is no place for their cars. It's one of the reasons I have always insisted on a side load garage house/neighborhood when we were house hunting because the wider lot required for the swing in usually means there is space for additional parking.
