re: Seeking OT Advice Regarding A Police Matter

Best to gather hard evidence of his wrongdoings/overstepping before charging him with a formal complaint. Hard evidence meaning some video/audio recording to capture it for use as future defense as opposed to “his word vs mine” fiasco. I wouldn’t recommend harassing him any further, but if he pulls you over again, or you feel he’s actively targeting you after your first altercation, then that’s when I would take action.

I get if it’s a “principle” thing, but to me, it’s not worth the time or effort for something that will have absolutely zero effect.
This was my thinking when I decided to not file a complaint. Getting the dashcam and bodycam footage is easy and inexpensive. I think they have 10 days to either get what you asked for or provide a reason why they can’t/won’t.
I have 30 days to file a complaint. But I don’t know if it will really have an impact. That’s why I thought that talking to the sergeant would be an option - it still won’t matter but there’s a chance the sergeant will tell the guy off the record to watch his driving.

OP didn’t state if he lived in Russia

Again, if it’s the hill you want to die on, by all means have at it. I just wouldn’t waste the time or effort to go to the station, file the request/complaint, get the evidence, etc. it would be a multiple day thing that, to me, just isn’t a productive use of my time

I decided later that day to just drop it and not file a complaint. However, the next morning, I saw the same officer with a car pulled over. I’m sure that the driver was being ticketed for something less egregious than what I saw the ticketing officer doing the day before. That has me rethinking my decision to not file a formal complaint.
Your statement right here^ reveals you to be the quasi-male equivalent of
tl/dr: OP jousting with windmills

I said that I was going to ask him the same thing because he was “driving like a maniac” and endangering the safety of the other people on the road. I told him that he was a loose cannon and wasn’t above the law or the PD’s policies for using emergency lights.

File a formal complaint?
frick. Yes.

You can complain and maybe something will happen, maybe it won’t. Or you can not complain and definitely nothing will happen. Do you want to go through the trouble of complaining? If so, do it. If not, don’t. It’s not rocket science.
Why any grown man comes on here to ask another man a question like this is beyond me. Be a man and make your own decisions. This isn’t a legal question or a “how do I” question. This is a “hey guys, please tell me how to live my life because I can’t do it myself” question.

You’ll prove he failed to signal. That’s it.
If he was trying to locate a motorist he received a complaint about then he was basically responding Code 2 and failed to signal.
I’m all for holding officers accountable and nothing pisses me off than them abusing their position. If it means that much, he likely has a gps on his unit and it’s public record. You could verify if he was actually responding to something and the gps will tell on him.
Personally, him responding to a citizen complaint makes this more of a non issue than if he was driving that way just to get to his kids ballgame or to handle some personal business.

I'd leave him alone. Odds are he'll either grow up and chill out, or he'll do something truly stupid and end up in the Louisiana State Home for Bad Public Servants. The dude's badge, Glock, and clapped-out "police interceptor" are probably the only trappings of manhood he still enjoys. It's OK to take a "live and let live" approach to these things.

TL;DR: A policeman did not appreciate being called out for reckless driving and acted like a bully.
Wow that is really shocking. I'm totally surprised. Most cops are nice, decent people that bend over backwards to help the public. This is completely out of character for them. I can't believe this is even true.

First of all, who the frick does thumbs down? That's what a middle finger is for you idiot.
And you will be wasting your time reporting it. Just move on and go find something else to thumbs down.

A state trooper did the same thing to me and the family a few days ago, he zig zigged through traffic driving like a bat out of hell only to pull into a gas station.

If you got pulled over for excessive use of the horn and didn't slap the frick out of that idiot you deserve a ticket for being too beta. I'm a cop and that's just stupid.

I'd file a complaint. Too many cops out there today act like they're above the law and behave like bullies. Not saying it's the majority of them (I believe most to be good people who aim to do right in a tough job), but more than it should be. I've had a couple of encounters with cops in the last few years, nothing real serious (one was a DPS officer downtown and the other was a B.R. city cop), but both acted like arrogant punks.

You don't know till you ask. Doesn't have to be adversarial. I took calls like this frequently. Helped me know what my guys were doing and when they were legit or pushing the edge. I explained it. Reasonable people understand.

Do you know anyone with friends in that police dept? Ask around about the guy. If he IS a jerk, they may welcome a complaint to help get rid of the guy.
If not, just forget about it. shite happens.

While true, it's still gotdamn bullchit. At the end of the day, if what you know is the truth and the truth still doesn't set you free, then the fact of the matter is that the system is f*cked. If you think that's okay then you'd of joined the other cucks that thought the English were "a-okay."
Far as I'm concerned you are not worth calling a man if you're okay with governmental power having privileges that the citizens don't. You're a lamb following the sheep.
F*ck that government mouthpiece. I hate a person, even a cop- especially a cop- who thinks he or she is above a law that deals its death blows to the average law abiding citizen.
This place blows my mind how it claims to be full of free thinking, small government individuals, and yet this gets downvoted to hell. What's free about this situation? Tell me?
All you can do is take the OP at face value, and if you do that, if you really ARE one who believes in a small and helplessly weak nanny state, then you ought to agree that at face value, the OP absolutely should turn the wreckless, lawless POS in.
F*ck that mf'er and the horse he rode in on (and that I paid for), report him.
He's reckless and lawless, and it's up to the citizens to keep him in check. Even if doesn't matter in this case, it'll be one more reminder to this department that they can't run wild doing as they please and their be ZERO repercussions.
Turn his sorry overinflated, bloated azz in and do the rest of us a favor.
I would.

I really don't understand all of this. First of all, I think OP is embellishing. I believe he saw a cop driving like he said, but he is full of shite with the rest of his story. And even if he did do this stupid arse thumbs down thing, and the cop, even though he was actively searching for another vehicle, actually saw this and turned around to pull him over, he absolutely DID NOT call him out like he said. Dude is on here asking us for advice like a timid person, but he had the balls to call out a cop? I don't buy it.
Secondly, how old are you OP? Or maybe I should ask how observant are you? This has been happening since the beginning of the invention of police departments. But you are coming here making this sound like something that is brand new to the world. All the shite that is wrong with this world and this is what you are hanging your hat on? Tell you what, I will give you a comparable issue I have from earlier today too.......my wife burnt the toast.....should I confront her about this?

A cop once blocked me in to question some 12-14 year old black kids who were just eating outside
I said move your car and he caught an attitude and started cussing me
I cussed him out back and he threatened to arrest me
