So what happened? Is it over?

My family never really was big into Sears for as long as I remember. The store in Slidell at NSSq was pretty awful even in the mid90s. I do remember them dragging us around in Service Merchandise a lot.

I wish i had been an adult when they were around.

My dad's main chainsaw is from there and is still slicing & dicing and he's had it since before I was born in '90.

Because it typically holds a niche on higher to middle high quality/prices goods, relatively speaking.

A small part of America dies if Sears goes under. Talk about a once great giant

How small of a part? A postage stamp maybe.

The company literally ate itself from the inside.

At some point, when you start closing stores, you need to realize that you are going to also shrink your brand.

There maybe only 3 or 4 Sears and Kmart locations left in Louisiana.

you would think that their car repair centers (firestone / goodyear like) would have some value. Not sure if they are company owned or how many there are.

There's a funeral home in Bastrop in one of those Woodlawn models. Seems to be in good shape but I've never been inside.

R&Y Gold Label long sleeve shirts there.

Overpriced. I got one there for $75 once and looked on Amazon a year later and they had more selection and for $40/each.

The future of sears (if there is one) is the Sears Home store model. Appliances, tools, and lawn and garden equipment. I can’t imagine anything else at Sears is profitable.

Lowe’s has already stated selling Craftsman tools.

Eddie Lampert, to buy the company out of bankruptcy through his hedge fund, ESL Investments.

So the guy that has completely run Sears into the ground, is going to be the same guy that saves Sears (using other people's money)?? LOL.

I hate to say it, but unless someone else steps up, Sears is done.

Eddie Lampert has no desire to run Sears as a going concern. If he is able to buy the company out of bankruptcy, it is only because HE wants to be in charge of the liquidation and get the benefits from it. He's been liquidating Sears and KMart for a number of years now.

Yes, Sears has long had some issues, but they really kicked up after Eddie and KMart took them over.

If anyone had any desire to actually save Sears, they would need to just shut down KMart or at least spin it out into their own company. KMart is weighing Sears down. Eddie has treated them as equals which is absolutely stupid.
