Sears, the 125-year-old icon, has 24 hours to survive.
The employer of more than 68,000 filed for bankruptcy in October. Its last shot at survival is a $4.6 billion proposal put forward by its chairman, Eddie Lampert, to buy the company out of bankruptcy through his hedge fund, ESL Investments. ESL is the only party offering to buy Sears as a whole, people familiar with the situation tell CNBC. Without that bid or another like it, liquidators will break the company up into pieces.

I’m glad this didn’t happen when I was a kid, the bra section of the Catalog got me through some hard times.

Yeah, but the bra section got you into those hard times.

The fact they employ more than 68,000 is shocking to me.

A lot of brick and mortar stores will probably fold in the coming decade.

Glad I didn’t buy that 5 year Sears maintenance garunteed warranty that a-hole tried to sell me for over an hour when buying my fridge.

Why wouldnt whomever take the 4.6B? Are there heirs living off their inheritances like worthless leeches?

Hard to just build this infrastructure, so i'm sure the bidder has some compete with Amazon pretty quick idea going on in his mind for that amount.

Soccer Moms and fat people like me who prefer their quality and selection of big and y’all items.

I load up in big and tall polo and R&Y Gold Label long sleeve shirts there.

Goodnight, sweet prince.

I’ll never forget the peeking dong ad from the 70’s and your flat footed executive leadership that made no adjustments in the face of the obvious tsunami that was coming to traditional retail.

While online shopping plays a part, quality of Sears products were nowhere close to what they were even 15 years ago. And their stores were regularly an unmitigated shitshow.

Sears has the same issues as the auto industry, massive retirement benefits being paid for by an ever shrinking workforce.

Amazon didn’t have anything to do with that.

Man that sucks...

I usually get lawnmower parts from Sears..

But I will say, the store is usually empty when I go.. Sad..
