I remember when I was kid they didnt cancel school until the day before Katrina hit.

To be fair that was on a Sunday right? I still remember like it was yesterday that the Saturday before there were a lot of people who heard an earlier report that said it was not coming to Louisiana. It wasn't until that Sunday morning, I remember waking up to a press conference telling the people to get the hell out of new orleans.

And also thinking "damn, this isn't enough time. Its going to be hard for people to get out with this late of an evacuation.

have a conspiracy theory that the deep state has somehow influenced school boards to cancel school at the slightest indication of bad weather. That way they can make their global warming BS feel more real by blaming the increase of school cancellations on CO2 pollution.

Jesus fricking Christ this place is so out of touch.

The tornado in Moore, OK in 2013 was an EF-5

Not sure if crawling under the desk would’ve helped

So you are responsible for making the call: Weather advisory indicates high potential for dangerous conditions around 3:00-5:00. What do you do?

Them teachers and administration will milk time off any chance they get. The flood gates were opened a long time ago.

It wasn’t destroyed but if school would have been in session, it could have been really bad. The gymnasium is destroyed.

Most smart districts have several of these days built into the calendar, and most schools have extra minutes built into each day, and teachers don’t get paid for them. Louisiana Department of Ed does add time to the school day if you go over the allotted days.

Not sure about OK , but around here the schools are significantly more structurally sound than most of the houses, the students would be safer staying in the school
