Being a school teacher has to be the biggest scam going right now. Just reading the board tonight everyone is complaining about them. They’re looting just like everyone else and the ones that aren’t wish they were.

Wow you're dumb... These people neither invented a pandemic nor are calling any shots. You are quite the idiot.

The headmaster of my kids school (private in the DFW area) sent an email saying the kids are being sent home at Thanksgiving with everything they need for virtual. That’s not the plan as of now, but he is being proactive based on the hysteria going around.

It could be an interesting fight as the Texas AG has already said the state authorities can’t tell private schools if they can be open or not.

Glad my kids are in private school. Been in class since August with no issues

Same here. I just hope Governor smack doesn't force all schools close and/or the archdiocese caves to the pressure.

That goes to show you that the one size fits all strategy is, was, and always will be incredibly stupid.

In my area it appears that schools that have the problems are quarantining when they need to. My daughter's school, like the ones you mention although it is private, haven't had a problem since they started back in August.

Every teacher that I'm friends with and all that I've talked to at my kids school would rather have in person learning. It's a huge pain in the arse for them to do the virtual stuff and they like the in person interaction and feeling normal.

I'm speaking of Jr high and high school teachers. Maybe some of the little kids teachers use the virtual stuff as a way to slack off if that is your angle.

There are lots of rumors about this and they all seem to be starting here on the OT.

Is that not where all rumors get started

My wife is an elementary teacher in Terrebonne.

When she got to school this morning, they were called into an "emergency meeting" to discuss preparations "if" they go virtual. First hand info also says the Parish President had a meeting discussing this issue last night.

JBE is definitely up to something behind the scenes. No way all these parishes are randomly having the exact same conversations at the exact same times. He's trying to lay his pimp hand down to land a spot in Biden's cabinet.

It’s happened in several states. Not statewide but checkout NJ, OH, WV.

My guess is, JBE will announce statewide shutdown of schools this Friday afternoon until some point in January. I'm assuming superintendents have voiced they are not willing to call for district wide shutdowns unless it's a state level mandate. He'll use data from the next 3 days to justify it

my wife is teaching for the first year and virtual is killing her. she's loved the in class teaching. while she's quarantined in a one bed room apartment, she's spent hours and hours making videos and creating classroom content.

i do generally agree with the teacher hate on here, but i think most of the educators that don't want in person learning are a lot more likely to be people in a union or older, bad teachers.

Won't happen. If my kids have to learn virtually, they'll be moved to a public school. Not paying tuition to have them sit in my house in front of a computer. I'm sure these schools don't feel like cutting refund checks for each student

The teachers in my school system in Georgia pretty much strong armed the district into staying virtual. I think you'd be surprised that the majority of teachers are enjoying the work from home. Our school system even has what they are calling "Wellness Wednesday" where there are no classes at all. That's right, not only is it half assed virtual learning but it is only 4 days a week. Most of the teachers will have to be drug kicking and screaming back to full time in-person teaching.
