Chicago is way different from No..... I’m a 60 year old white dude and I feel safe walking the streets of Chicago.... Not in New Orleans.... the gangs in NO are targeting tourist........

The tourist areas of Chicago are fine. I think people think it's the most violent city in the US because of the sheer numbers involved but St Louis, Baltimore, Nola etc have higher murder rates.

Baton Rouge and Birmingham have higher rates than NOLA.

That might be the case. The thugs in BR have been shooting the place up a lot the past few years. I still think Nola probably has higher overall crime - car burglaries etc but they are both dangerous. Hell, most cities in the Deep South have high crime rates.

You can visit a different part of the city and experience a completely different vibe, and it's just the right size to not have to drive far to experience each one. Just stay out of Central City, St. Bernard, Lower 9th Ward. New Orleans East doesn't exist.
