Probably wouldn't be able to use the mush that he would leave behind.

I could never ride a motorcycle because I'd never be able to relax when stopped at a stop sign or light. I'd always be worried someone would rear end me.

Then I considered getting a bike to ride in the country, and I know someone that hit a deer on a motorcycle. FRICK THAT.

You just can't win on the street with them. I'd love to ride, just with kids its not worth the risk.

I saw a guy get killed on a motorcycle several years ago. I was driving home from work and up ahead some motion caught my eye. It looked like something had flown straight up into the air and then back down (because gravity). When I got up there, there was a guy laying in the street, unconscious, blood pouring from a head wound (no helmet). A couple of nurses happened to be driving by when it happened and they had taken charge of the situation.

But it didn't look good. There was a stream of blood from his head all the way to the gutter on the other side of the street. The nurses were using towels to try to slow down the bleeding but they also had to be careful in case he had a neck injury too. A fire truck arrived quickly because it just happened to be right down the street on a fund drive. They took over for the nurses.

Then a minute or two later the police pulled up. I told one of the cops that I was 100 yards away when it happened and didn't really see anything. He said I could leave if I wanted to.

From talking to others that saw more than I did, it sounded like he was coming from the other direction and an SUV turned in front of him into a parking lot. He hit the SUV, flew up in the air and landed in the road (apparently on his head). Someone told me that the woman that was driving the SUV got out, saw what had happened and immediately threw up.

Later I found out the guy died in the hospital that night. Never regained consciousness. I never heard what happened to the driver of the SUV.

Funny thing is that it sure as hell looked like the truck driver was taking pics. That's a ridiculously morbid thing for him to do, especially when he did it within 60 seconds of the wreck,

The guy was dead, he didn't give a frick if the guy took pics.

Two types of motorcycle riders. Those that have wrecked and those that are going to wreck.

Truck is lucky its a no passing zone. If it was legal to pass, the truck would be liable, at least in LA. You have an obligation to make sure no one is passing you when turning left in a passing zone.

I want to read that law for myself. Sounds like bullshite

Accordingly, the left-turning vehicle must properly and timely signal that he is turning left and also check traffic behind him and traffic that is oncoming. Only then can he assert that he is free from fault if there is a collision between him and the passing vehicle. Ponthieu v. Dubroc, 108 So.2d 25 (La. Ct. App. 1958)

If you're passing a car and they turn left in front of you, they can be at fault.

That law wouldn't apply, even if it was a passing zone.

You're wrong, no surprise there.

A vehicle being overtaken by a legal passing maneuver must yield to the passing vehicle in LA. That includes turning left onto a private road or drive, aka, not a public road.

Legally, yes.

But you should always check regardless. If it had been a little Subaru a 1000 cc bike can cause plenty of damage and hurt people inside.

The law doesn't keep you out of the hospital, it just establishes who you can sue.

Do you think that would have been the case here, even if it were a passing zone?

What is your profession again?

Correct.

It doesn't look like that's the case here, though.

I won’t ride a motorcycle until they come up with one with a steering wheel so I can text and drive

If the bike was passing legally, yes. I've made that pretty clear.
