I feel worse for you that you had to see a dead body than the idiot who was a victim of Darwinism, who also could've killed others.

not really. What percentage of people driving around are on their phone? You can be as careful as possible but there's too many dumbasses out there that I wouldn't chance it.
And when people point this out, motorcyclists get offended. It's not because we think you drive recklessly (some do obviously), but has more to do with the fact that people drive like idiots.

I have no pity for those assholes on crotch rockets who drive that way. Theyre begging for death.

Someone swerves out of their lane and hits me, I’m fine and need a new bumper.
On a bike? I skid out and possibly have my head ridden over by that car.

That was a good move on the cabbie. I have to take driving courses for work because of the amount of traveling I do. If you stop on the side of a road, or in a road; your chances of getting hit increase. All you can do is call the cops anyway. Once that has been completed, it is best to keep pathways clear. Your safety is the most important aspect when dealing with 2000 pound moving objects.

Sure seems like a lot of the MC crowd develop a VERY false sense of invincibility when they climb on those "rice rockets"....I've seen many of them find out they are not the hard way.

Was a guy on I-10 near Nola-East passing everyone going 90+ on crotch rocket few weeks ago, and also doing wheelies when he did slow down a bit. Would not have been all that mad to see him veer off into the swamp

Truck is lucky its a no passing zone. If it was legal to pass, the truck would be liable, at least in LA. You have an obligation to make sure no one is passing you when turning left in a passing zone.

Only dead person I've ever seen that wasn't in a casket was a motorcycle accident.
No way in hell I'm ever getting on one of those.

Pretty famous case up here in the mountains a few years back. Girl was on the back of her BF's crotch rocket going along I-40 W toward Knoxville.
Just outside of Asheville, he decides to hit gas and pop a wheelie. She wasn't ready for it and fell off. Several cars and an 18-wheeler ran over her. BF sped off, but was caught a day or two later.
Her FB was filled with a bunch of "Live Fast, Die Young, Leave a Good-Looking Corpse"-type crap. She got the first two, but, after being hit by several vehicles at highway speed, I dare say her corpse wasn't so good looking.

I may be alone in this but I'm a little confused why you didn't stop. 1 old lady waving me by wouldn't have done the job. I think I would rather her go and I stay.

20 years ago you’re absolutely right. Today? Just getting on a motorcycle is asking to die. You can be the best and safest motorcycle driver in the world. Doesn’t mean shite when the driver of that truck is looking down at his phone and doesn’t see you.
Doesn’t matter how good you are. The pure amount of distracted drivers on the road say it isn’t a matter of if you get hit, it’s when you get hit

Its also dangerous just due to other cars, you don't have protection from others stupidity no matter how careful you personally are.

I always get a little nervous when I see someone on a motorcycle acting like an idiot.
I was driving down Hyacinth yesterday at 5 and there was a motorcycle in front of me. Guy was speeding way too fast for that road and popping wheelies the whole time.

I knew an ER doctor that once told me she was strongly in favor of the helmet law for motorcyles.
They keep the rider alive long enough to donate the organs. The volume they saw from bike accidents, mostly young men, was unbelievable.

And do what? I'm not medically trained, there were witnesses closer than I was when it happened, there is active construction going on so workers were there....I would've just been in the way, staring at a gruesome body. No thanks.

Wife is a doctor. She is vehemently against riding a motorcycle.
As motorists, we see the fun side of riding a motorcycle. Doctors see the shitty side of riding a motorcycle.
