I know about fish ... what's up with Armymanns wife? And God bless you bigfish -- making decisions can just be so hard.

Friend,
After the Donut Hole this morning, Mother said I could explore for half an hour as long as I stayed off the beach. The wind isn't very dangerous at this point, except in a few gusts during the squalls, so I explored the bay behind east of Destin. Its name is Choctawhatchee (I had to Google that name's spelling -- it's more tdifficult than Tchoupitoulas, a name whose original English spelling left out the T, and I wish modern spellings would do the same, as the T serves no purpose at its beginning) and it normally is greenish in color. Today it looks like Yoo-hoo, but I did not drink any. The wind moves much like an American explorer, due west and with purpose. The rain stung my face during a few of the stronger storms.
The waves were choppy, quite unlike the still waters of Pontchartrain on that fateful New Year's Eve, 1995. There were no boaters on the water, no degenerates on their way to the tawdry island named after that decapod crustacean. I would estimate the surge in the bay to be around two feet above normal.
No one is at cousin's house except us. It is the first time it has been so quiet, dare I say, lonely. I will try to sneak out through the day, perhaps even jaunt closer to the storm. I fear, though, that Mother will forbid it.
Reporting to you, after the fact, east of Destin, I am,

Anybody got anything from dauphin island?
My wife mentioned this morning that the facebook page is saying the West end was flooded pretty bad and had a lot of vehicles underwater and people cut off from leaving. The west end floods in a hard rain. Can't imagine people on the west end not realizing that anything hurricane like would flood it bad enough to make it impassible.

That radar graphic sure does look like the center is well west of mobile.

It's due south of Mobile based on recon.

It floods pretty good with a tropical storm. Don't know what they were expecting.

Cocodrie (south of Floodgate) taking on little more water than expected.

Another place that will most likely flood badly is out Ft. Morgan Road. Lots of houses out there, as well as some condos. The island gets pretty narrow once you get on out there, so it doesn’t take much to flood.

I'm supposed to be heading to Pensacola for a beach trip on Thursday evening. I wonder if I will be able to go. Anyone have an idea?

Here is the live stream from The Beach Club in Gulf Shores that I posted earlier, but this version has NOAA Weather Radio playing in it.
The comments for that video contain some of the dumbest people on the planet it seems.
