Good call. NO doesn’t deserve anything nice.

When I was a kid, high end retail was all up and down canal st. Now it’s all Chess King level trash.

Typical NOLA hate from the OP brings out the morons who don't read. This is a national story with regional implications. Not the other way around.

In a Ch.11 reorganization, businesses usually shut down their weakest locations. So Nola was a weak performing location.

They should just move to Metairie.

Not a surprise, and a reminder NOLA isn’t a major league sports town any longer as it can’t attract key business.

Saints and Pels are on borrowed time.

So New Orleans has been headed in the right direction?

Not surprising. NOLA is not headed in a good direction.

Has nothing to do with that, Saks filed for bankruptcy in January. They have a lot of debt they can't pay off and are closing 9 stores.

Saks is closing because of re org and I would not be surprised if all of them outside NYC close with 12-24 months

Adlers is closing because the grandkids don’t want to work

Palace Cafe closed because landlord skyrocketed rental rates

Canal Place shopping area will be all condos soon..

When I'm in stores, I look over products I like, then I scan the barcode into Amazon to see if I can get it cheaper delivered to me.

That’s the truth. Many stores are now becoming show rooms for online shopping. If you are interested but don’t need it today you can try on in a store and order online from another retailer for less.

They could have closed other store locations but chose NO. I do think it matters

This is going to be rough for the canal place mall. I have no idea what can replace this volume of space.

Orleans parish doesn’t have an Apple Store. An Apple Store taking over at least some of this space would make a lot of sense. Maybe pair with a restoration hardware concept.

Except they are closing 7 other Saks locations around the country and a Neiman Marcus.

It is in the article and OP

I know, but NO is part of 7, they have more but chose NO.

What I’m saying is NO is the city of LA and was chosen vs some mid tier cities somewhere else. There is no doubt this is a reflection of NO.

The personal shopper has been made almost useless with the internet and social media now. You have direct links to the things being advertised to you before the reel is over. You don’t need someone in a store to introduce you to an item anymore.

It is a shame because there is something about going to a nice store and being given personal attention by someone who knows what they are doing but it is obsolete now unfortunately.

You haven’t shopped at Lee Michael’s have you? They still provide the very experience you deem obsolete.
