There are lots of contractors out there who are doing fortified retrofit. The dept of insurance can point you in the right direction

Sage Sure Insurance?

by Jj283

Had Sage Sure for Ida, and still have them. No issues having my claims paid. Rates have gone up just like everyone else. Nothing bad to say about them in my limited experience.

Good to know. I just switched to them (actually Auros but they are affiliated). Had been with Progressive who had gone up substantially in the last couple years and my premiums went way down after the switch.

We just enrolled with Sage.

They sent an agent to our home to take pictures. They wanted to see inside and out. It was awkward that after 19 years of being insured, in the same house, this was the first time we had to “show our home” for insurance purposes.

Also they made me cut the tree’s to where no limbs were near or over the roof. The trees are mostly Crape Myrtle’s. We had to submit pictures for their approval. I guess if it’s not approved then we will look elsewhere.
Insurance has been a true burden.

They ordered an inspection. It was not the insurance agent.

They being the insurance company not the agent we use. Regardless I don’t know how you title these people, inspector or whatever, it was awkward to have to show our home.

Had similar problem couple years ago. About a 60% increase between year 1 and 2 without a claim. Called All State and they said they'd match the original premium and haven't changed since.

Just renewed with Sage Sure, first renewal with them. Premium went up a total of $3. Pleasantly surprised after getting four 40% increases in a row with my last company.

We have them for homeowners. Easy claims process with IDA roof damage once we had adjustor assigned. No issues and just normal rate increases that everyone is doing.

They’ve had papers that have folded but it’s magical that the new companies then appear w a different name

Allstate can be very difficult in claim situations and generally, they’re only offering in areas north of the interstate.

Nonetheless, we’re lucky to at least have them and Liberty too as they’re a quality insurer.

We need a lot more to create a real market where competition can do its thing

Had them for 2 years at my old house. When we had a pipe under our tub flood our bedroom they paid out no problem after the deductible and were pretty easy to work with. Premium only went up $100 the second year.

I liked them and would have kept using them if we didn’t get a good deal with USAA at the new house. I was always a little nervous they would go under if there was a big storm since they were charging so little for premiums

Update

Thanks everyone for responses

So… apparently there is an issue with our neighborhood / zip code with Sage Sure as the quote came back over $12K.

Agent worked on it and we are going to go with a split with Cajun for wind and Allied for non-wind. About 5800 combined. 5% named storm ded, 2500 other ded. Coverage and deductible similar to what we had.

Also, it’s $800 less than Dover Bay was for the last 12 months,

It wasn’t an agent. It was a 3rd party company that does underwriting inspections
