Guess there were no news crews there so it didn't make the news.
I'll say this much, there are so so many things in Vegas that don't make the news I truly believe they suppress a whole lot of things so as to not negatively affect tourism....maybe not in this particular situation but it's absolutely wild the amount of crime on the strip and downtown that gets swept under the rug.
Glad everyone is okay

This was an aborted landing. With the landing gear down. And plane ascending at nearly 90 degree angle
They got down to 2400 feet, then pulled up to 7000 feet in 3-4 minutes, which isn't a crazy rate of climb in a 737. Did one circle and landed 10 minutes later
Sounds like your family might have overreacted to a simple go around situation. Unless this isn't their flight and more than one go around happened from DEN - LAS
Flight Aware DEN - LAS

Not the type, color, demographic, race, etc.!

My family is ok but badly shaken.
Really? I can see where they would be upset, but "badly shaken"? They likely didn't even see what was happening.
Your family wouldn't be black by any random chance would they?
You're not lacking in the retard department.

I’m sure that it concerned your family, but I doubt it was as dire as you’re suggesting. This is not an uncommon situation. Go arounds happen all of time with landing gear down, and the pilots have an excellent view of the runway and communication with ATC. If it was as serious as you’re implying it would be all over the news.

Thanks! They are there to see a concert.

I’m glad everyone is okay, but this really a non-event. 100s (maybe 1000) of planes perform the go-around maneuver (pitch and power up) everyday for various reasons. I’ve had to do the same a couple times (in 20+ years of flying) because ATC vectors you a little tight on final and the aircraft in front takes too long to exit the runway. Both the pilots and Tower are very vigilant at watching out for this. Also, it’s not like there was an aircraft sitting there at the touchdown point, it was probably 2miles down the runway about to exit. Obviously, for safety reasons, we don’t want to land with an aircraft on the runway…unless you’re flying a Naval aircraft!

If there is anything 'common' about such a situation we need to nuke the entire system from space and start over.
It’s better than crashing onto the plane on the runway.

Vegas is around 2,000 feet above sea level so I’ll give them that they were close to landing at 400 feet above the runway. But at that height and the size of LAS this wasn’t that big of a deal. Can be nerve racking if you’ve never experienced one.

Keep an eye on Aaron Rheins social accounts. He usually posts about these things.
You can probably send him a message and he will track down the data and comms if there are any.

Yeah, I've been in a few go arounds before. It's not a news story. The worst are when they are wind related and you experience that crazy cross wind blast on your runway approach that tosses the plane around and the pilot says "f--k this" and goes full throttle climb out. Pilots are also trained to do "touch and go" maneuvers.

I aced geometry, smart arse!

The pilot's response was 'Hey, we didn't die, did we?!?!' Chuckle.
If me (and I flew a lot / internationally for work)…the seat I am sitting on just died. Promise no one will want to sit in it.
Glad all turned out well!

The ATC will be on YouTube in a day or two

Were you badly shaken?
