Running threw tollbooth EZ Pass with a Rental Car

Let's say I was driving around a town with tolls and just went through speedpass or EZ pass or whatever, but was in a rental.
What happens? I didn't do it but thought about it.
Do they call the rental companies for contact info? Just wondering.

Times that tough you couldn't pay the $2.00?

wouldn't be difficult for rental company to know who had the car on that date.

Just make sure to remove the license plate(s) and duck your head when you pass through.
ETA: frick me, I meant threw. I'm such a tard.

Wait, you threw a tollbooth EZ Pass, while running... with a rental car?
That's impressive.

You get a bill for $10 from the rental car company 3 months later.

I do it all the time. Usually ends up being a $7 or so charge per booth. The charge comes from the rental company after the initial charge a d just appears on the credit card statement.

Depends on where you were driving. Same thing happened in Colorado and thought I'd be billed but nothing ever came of it. Just did the same thing in Houston a month ago (except with my own car) and I'm still waiting for my ticket in the mail...

Most of those automatically take pictures/scan license plates or barcode tags depending on the state.
In Florida for instance, it comes equipped with a EZ Pass that will be scanned every time you cross one.
It will either be automatically added to your rental bill or you'll get a bill in the mail.

They will bill the rental company, the rental company pays the fee directly and then charges your card on file. Happens thousands of times a day around the country. Large rental companies have dedicated departments for this.

They will bill you. Would have been cheaper to pay as you went through

Got a photo ticket in Orleans Parish in a loaner Lexus from dealership while car being serviced, so yeah they can find you.

Rental car company is going to bill you. You'll pay the full amount of tolls too, so even if it would have been a $5 charge for what you used, if there are other tolls connected to that road you are going to pay for those too. $25 - $40, then whatever the rental car company charges you for your lack of awareness.

Happened to me in Dallas and there was no toll booth, just a warning I was entering a toll road but my exit was 1/2 a mile away and I thought it did not turn into toll road unless I got to a toll both - anyway the charged my credit card on file with the rental car company $15 or something around there.
Once in LA I got a red light ticket (did not come to a complete stop on right turn on red) - they contacted the rental car company who contacted me - that little incident was $500 which I had to pay since I rented cars about twice a month for my job.
So, I guess it depends on the amount as both of them were with National.

There arent toll booths everywhere though. A lot of the exits are EZ pass only.

On a side note, I saw a deal on TV about the lengths people go to say they don't have to pay tolls.
Obscuring the plates, changing the last number, even rigging a cable to a fake plate.
Of course, they stop the guy about the fake plate and all of sudden he can't speak English and has no idea about the fake plate.

They send you the bill plus charges. In 2007 I rented a car in Cleveland and drove it to Toronto. I got speed pass in Toronto, they sent the bill to the rental company who charged me $17 for extra fees on the $2 toll and then an extra $250 charge for leaving the country in the car.
