No idea about romantic ideas, but I stayed at a place near Red Hook called Sapphire Beach on USVI. I went by myself for 7 days. I met a very pretty beach waitress that served me every day from North Carolina. We were about the same age. I kept trying to convince her to go out with me, and even tried to say we could be married and this is first date. I said this in joke, but to no avail. She held very firm that she doesn't go out with customers.

you have to have a passport to get off a boat and go have a drink at the soggy dollar bar or go to "the baths"? Where do they check your passport?
Your boat is required to check into the BVI. They check passports and charge an entrance fee. Been like that forever.
For Soggy you check in at Great Harbor which is the next bay over.

First place the captain brings you is to the customs dock. You may not even have to get off the boat to check into the BVI’s. On the way back to the US, they bring you to a US customs dock to check back in. It’s not busy like an airport customs office. You usually just walk up right up to the counter.

I’ve never been to St Thomas or John, but we are planning a trip to the latter. I have no interest in St Thomas. My wife and I went to St Croix a few years ago.
My favorite vacation ever. It was our ten year anniversary so it was just her and I.
Pretty much nothing to do but the beach on that island. But man let me tell you, we had entire beaches to ourselves every day. We mapped them and one was 1.8 miles of beautiful Caribbean water and sand with not another soul around. Ha’Penny was our favorite but Issac and Jacks bay were close behind.
The prettier beaches are on the west side, but also that’s the busy beaches.
One disclaimer: there are no facilities on those secluded beaches. So it’s pack an ice chest(s) and hang out. Highly recommend renting a jeep if you decide to visit St Croix but it sounds like you’ll be on the other two.
Also- certain laws are very relaxed there if you partake.
As far as expensive- everything was just about the same price as here. And there are some good restaurants in Christiansted- which is a cool town.

Holy shite! Is that place still there? I visited it about thirty + years ago. Bushwhackers for everyone.

It's all a typical touristy island destination, but nice beaches and snorkeling. Rented a Jeep and a boat, which was nice to get away from the Toby Keith crowd on the St. John beaches. Don't go to Tortola, it sucks.

Are you willing to lose half of everything you have worked for? For some pussy? You are an idiot.

some thoughts from a frequent traveler
Rum in the VI is a cheaper drink mixer than orange juice. Bartenders poor appropriately
Skip the beef, its not a local product
Skip the conch chowder . The conch is cooked as tender as an old boot
Sundays and early evening the commercial districts pretty much shut down.
The cruise ship market area has the best variety of keep sakes, but the pricing is up accordingly. Ron deBarrillitous is a great rum
I stayed away from the Resort hotels and used bed and breakfast type hotels

Take a boat over to Epstein's Island.
Rent a catamaran for the day with food, wine and snorkeling.
Take a sunset cruise at night.
Book her a massage.
Pay hotel to set up table on beach for sunset champagne with fresh fruit and cheese.
Book at restaurant with open air seating beachside for sunset dinner.

Buy a food/drinks package... romance will follow.

Charter a boat so the captain can take you on a tour of the British Virgin Isles while the first mate makes boat drinks for you.

If the relationship needs places or things to make it romantic you're in for a world of hurt.
Go for the experience of having the trip together. Planned/forced romance crap is awkward. Eat some good food, enjoy some drinks, do stuff you both want to do and have some fun
Also, you put it right on in her butt first night there.
