Definitely the most interesting story out of Seattle since that dude took up residence in the Macy's Christmas tree.

Hell of a maneuver, actually airshow worthy. Lol at the news folks first reporting his lack of flying skills caused the crash. He made them look like fools on his first flight.

He only crashed because he wanted to , had to have had some experience flying, the barrel roll and turns, managing to keep it out of the water was all too smooth to be just luck.

Lots of flight mechanics are also pilots and vice versa. He most definitely had taxi experience. This could have been so much worse. He could have flown into a nuclear facility, high rise or even a cruise ship if he wanted to.

Damn. I can already smell a good bit of smoke. Hopefully it's under control quickly. It's a small island but there's probably 50-150 people out there.

Glad to see we had fighters on him very quickly and NORAD was aware of the situation quickly.

We learned some lessons and made improvements.

Was not a mechanic. Ground service agent aka ramper/ ramp rat. Probably a tug driver, bag thrower, ground crew etc.

His word press blog

His YouTube

quote:

Hey all! My names Richard Russell, I’m 27 and currently living in Sumner, WA with my incredible wife Hannah. I was born in Key West, Florida, and moved to Wasilla, Alaska when I was 7. I met Hannah in Coos Bay, Oregon in 2010 while we were both going to school. We were married one year later, and one month after that we opened a bakery which we successfully ran for 3 years. We decided to sell and move in 2015, because we were both so far removed from our families. Failing to convince Hannah of Alaska’s greatness, we settled on Sumner because of its close proximity to her family. I, meanwhile, obtained a job working for Horizon Airlines (partnered with Alaska Airlines) so I’m able to fly to Alaska at my leisure. In this season of  life we enjoy exploring as much as possible, whether its a day (or so) trip to one of Alaska Airline’s destinations, or visiting a new area of Washington. We consider ourselves bakery connoisseurs and have to try a new one every place we go. Once I earn my Bachelors in Social Sciences I will either seek a management position where I’m at now, or possibly join the military as an officer. With this blog I hope to showcase all that I’ve learned in Ms. Newman’s Communications 210 class.

Dude did a roll in that big arse plane.

I can't imagine what was going on in his head when he made the decision to take that aircraft. Then I bet he felt like a dog who chased a squirrel and caught it--he didn't know quite how to end the situation. It sounds like no one was hurt (besides the pilot, obviously) so at least it ended nearly as good as it could have.

“Oh man. Those guys will rough me up if I try and land there,” the man responded, later adding “This is probably jail time for life, huh?” Later the man said: “I’ve got a lot of people that care about me. It’s going to disappoint them to hear that I did this...Just a broken guy, got a few screws loose, I guess.”

And he's from Seattle. I'm guessing he had one too many brownies.
