They should've opened up Morganza a long time ago. Now, we're in a situation where all of the water coming down the river is gonna get slowed down and backed up, causing the river and lakes to rise. Diverting it to the lake will just cause the areas around the lake to flood more.
Was just told the port is gonna close the floodwalls tomorrow afternoon. It's been a while for that

Amazing how we come full circle.
You baws are the same baws that blew the levees up south of Nola in 1927.

Piece of shite corps of engineers just had a spokesman on the weather Channel saying the spillway is only open 50% and they aren't opening more and that they know they'll have overtopping on the river levees but since it's only12 hours or so that they're fine with it.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I’m just baffled they haven’t opened up more bays at the spillway yet.

It would only take then 18 hours to open the rest of Bonnet Carre. They could open it up to 75% in 9 hours and that would help a lot.

That was back when dynamite was dynamite and Coke had cocaine. Men used to make shite happen instead of waiting for lawyers to make decisions for them

But they ended up not needing to do that after the fact.
They fricked over Plaquemines for no reason.

This fact always seems to be forgotten.

It’s fine. The mayor said all the citizens need to do is to help clean out the sewers today, and they’ll be good to go.

They are probably worried about the lake going into Lakeview..again.

I can’t imagine they could pump enough water from the river into the lake to raise it that much. Typically spillway water raises the height on the North Shore not the South Shore.

A cresting river and hurricane landfall should make for a grand time.

Was just reading this article about NOLA on CNN talking about the city sinking. The writer needs to get a new metric to imperial conversion app.
quote:
Much of the area around New Orleans is now 1½ to 3 meters (1.64 to 3.28 feet) below mean sea level, according to a 2003 study by the US Geological Survey. Scientists found that the ground in the area was sinking at a rate of 1 centimeter a year. That continual sinkage, combined with rising global sea levels due to the climate crisis, meant New Orleans would probably be between 2½ and 4 meters (2.73 to 4.37 feet) below sea level by 2100.

Water about 3ft from the embankment at the fly. How f’d are we? Should I pack up the wife and dog and head to the Ozarks this wkend or stay here and wait for it all to unfold.

I’d be blowing out of there like a bus load of figs. Technology has advanced to where you don't need to sit there and watch it all unfold.
