All seems to be about local management
When I first started in the grocery business 24 years ago all of management were people who started in the grocery business at the bottom and worked their way up. People who knew the industry. Now they hire anyone off the street, give them computer courses, maybe a class, and put them in charge of things they know nothing about.

Super 1 is the best grocery store chain I experienced in Louisiana.
He's on shrooms and drunk. Super1 was where I went as a broke arse college student to decide whether I was buying peanut butter this week, or jelly.
WD only "succeeded" because they were marginally better than the supposed independents with Associated Grocers, and Baton Rouge didn't have a lot of alternatives back in the day. They killed themselves off with their pricing.

Winn Dixie (so. grocers, etc., that have owned them) has gone bankrupt least a couple times, I believe. Probably not the worst thing for them.

Publix was considered expanding into Louisiana at one point.
Louisiana folks would talk so much shite about Publix and how it isn't Louisiana enough, they'd be the shittiest Publix in America.

Aldi owns Trader Joe's - i wouldn't mind that

That is really sad. I think ALDI is inferior to Winn Dixie.

Feel like someone recently commented somewhere on this site that they thought it odd that Winn-Dixie hasn't been forced to remove Dixie from their name... And now today that will essentially happen
Lol ALDI was founded by a NAZI soldier

Went to the one in Metry to check it out, place was trashy, people shopping there were trashy, very small and not much of a selection.
Bought some dip and crackers, asked for a bag, they said we don’t have bags and I walked out and said frick this place.

My very first job was at Winn-Dixie when I was 15 back in March of '97. Stayed there till they closed in November of '98.
Time flies.

Are you drunk? Super 1 here is worse than County Market ever dreamed of being. Hard to believe these are owned by Brookshires.
I said Lafayette. The super 1’s around Lafayette are awesome. The ones up north where you are must be completely different. Go to one’s in acadiana and report back.

This is K&B/Rite Aid all over again. Over half of the converted Winn-Dixie stores will be closed in 3 years.

Speaking of HEB, they really should have stores in LC and Lafayette.
HEB really should have stores on the Florida panhandle!

All Piggly Wiggly’s are a franchise, a local ownership group owns the store and just licenses the name from C&S Wholesale Grocers.

Am I the only person who doesn’t like Aldi?
Aldi sucks…..
Ive got no problem bagging my own shite if i can also scan my own shite.
But to wait in line at the single register as someone who is sitting down scans my stuff and throws it haphazardly into a randomly placed shopping cart and then immediately starts scanning the next guys shite while im just looking at this shopping cart thats not mine and i cant wheel away full of my loose shite is not my kind of grocery experience.
Put self check outs in there or act like a normal store.
