Not sure how this would work. Aldi stores are very small and Winn Dixie are way too large to convert to an aldi

I heard they will keep the Winn Dixie name on them...for now.

Thanks for this. Sent me down a rabbit hole of The Band songs today.

Discovered my wife had not heard of The Band (or didn't know she knew some of their songs), so now she's had an education.

The Aldi I went to in McComb was kind of cheap and trashy. Like Dollar General trashy.

Damn, that sucks. Guess it doesn’t translate well to American.

That's what they said about K&B and K&B ice cream.

I was an Asst Mgr at the Winn Dixie on Burbank back before Walmart and Rouse’s were around…..we made bank every quarter in bonuses…..it was busy and I usually worked at least 16-20 hrs of OT a week but it was pretty fun at times.

It’s kind of sad to see the company couldn’t pull it together or compete with WM or Rouses.

It was a top 3 profit store in the entire company from about 02 - 07 or so.

Frankly I don’t give a damn what you believe or not the store manager of that store made over 200K 3 years in a row in that time period.

Has anyone considered yet that Aldi has never operated pharmacies in any of their stores and even if they wanted to, which they don't, they don't have the permits?

I'm heartbroken. A lot of the Winn Dixie pharmacists will lose their jobs in this acquisition.

I haven't seen a Winn-Dixie since probably the 90s here in Kentucky. Kroger bought then out back then and took over.

They could sell off their pharmacy business to Walgreens or CVS and still operate some of their in store pharmacies.

Brookshires/Super1 just did this with Walgreens. Target did this several years ago with CVS.

Those PBMs must be putting the screws on the pharmacy business. Especially with newer drugs costing over a thousand, and collecting a 30 dollar copay, and 25-50% from the PBM or insurance companies, the business model doesn’t work anymore unless you are a large conglomerate and negotiate steep discounts from the manufacturer.

That is one area where Rouses stayed away. They had some pharmacies when they first opened some of their larger store formats in Houma and Thibodaux, but they sold off or transferred the prescription business to the Walgreens when they built stores near them.

Pharmacy has been one area where Rouses does not mimic a Publix, the other is with Lottery Tickets. From what I can tell, only two stores sell lottery tickets, and it is two stores that were purchased that sold lottery tickets before they were purchased by Rouses.

On the other hand, nearly every Florida Powerball Millionaire bought their ticket at a Publix.

Do people not realise just how much Aldi sucks? I will drive past an Aldi to go to Harris Teeter.

A quarter ain’t so bad. The ones in Australia make you deposit a $2 coin.

I was just in Watercolor and was very impressed by Publix. Felt like a H-E-B-lite.
